REDOXO
Wales is part of the United Kingdom, which is a fully independent sovereign state. But, the 'United Kingdom' is made up of a political union between four nations, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, that are countries in their own right and have varying degrees of autonomy. The clue is United Kingdom. For the record Wales is a Principality but Scotland is a Kingdom both in there own right. The Channel Islands come under the Home Secretary but have their own parliaments as does the Isle of Man Arguing country status one way or the other is a bit academic to those of us that don’t care, however robust independence movements suggest , like myself, that people are English etc before they are British. In fact the only people I know that call themselves British before anything else are immigrants (like Mrs Oxo) who don’t have a country affiliation Edited November 5, 2022 by REDOXO
