Victory Park Reds
My first ever game v Spurs Jan 1979. I think 32000 and watched Ossie and Ricky Villa. Loved watching Glenn Hoddle as a kid as well, the goal against Arsenal is unbelievable in the late 70’s. As for my favourite spuds it used to my mums roasters. However Cheungs chip shop by the Sange (briz)used to do scallop potatoes.Splash of vinegar.boom. The Bloomfield chipper used to do scallop potatoes but it now closed. Anyone else know these items of loveliness are still available.I’m sure they are fairly vegan so shouldn’t offend anyone. Red-Robbo
I always thought the close-up head shot of Terry Cooper they used in the matchday programmes of the time to illustrate his "the Gaffer speaks" columns, made him look a bit like those singing potatoes in the "We Want To Be, Smith's Crisps" advert. I remember many years ago being chased out of our chip shop for something very similar. They used to sell Battered Scallops and, as a cocky teenager showing off to his mates, I asked the manager if he had any Scattered Bollox. It seemed quite funny at the time, but his wife was furious, and I was banned for a few weeks.
