I’m surprised the Ostrich isn’t on that list?

Virtually next door is the Golden Guinea which has a really good vibe, probably better suited to warmer days as it’s quite small inside unless they open up the downstairs area

Went there before the Stoke game this season.

Lovely pub, good food and drink though not cheap, excellent atmosphere, nice and warm on a cold day which isn’t always the case nowadays in pubs.

And a lovely walk along the ever changing harbourside to the ground. Highly recommend.

God with the list of pubs being given is there anywhere left for city fans to drink .
seriously I keep mentioning it but Bristol is a great day out for away fans ,

consider some of the places we go with perhaps 1 or 2 pubs for city fans and herded like cattle from station to pub then to ground. Away fans pretty much get left to the own devices when coming to city , police are pretty low key here.

by the way to anyone who went to Sunderland what was it like with the mackem fans did we all mix friendly enough in pubs and around the ground one of the few places I’ve never been .

I took Joe to play a chess match there a good few years back.  Got to be the worst pub / bar / establishment I’ve ever been in. ???

Pretty sure I heard it was due to be demolished - would probably fit in with the redevelopment (ie building more expensive flats) of the Phoenix Wharf, where the Matthew was built.

Only ever been in there once, it might be a bit rough & ready but the drinks are very reasonably priced

I remember when it was called the Merchant Venturer. I was working in Redcliffe St at the time it was changed.
There used to be a pub around the back of St Mary’s church opposite - I think that was called the Ship - is that still there?

Yes - that is still there - although the Bell further down Prewett St has long since been left to rot away.

Slightly off centre, but the Cornubia in Temple Street, Redcliffe is a nice little boozer with outside space. I think it was Bristol CAMRA pub of the year recently.

Avon Packet already mentioned, it has a great garden and on the way back to Temple Meads for away supporters.

Cheers.   Was just thinking that if it was for anything ‘official’ then some of those places may want to be asked as whether they are comfortable being officially ‘away designated’.  In my experience places like the Old Bookshop don’t much like home fans let alone masses of fake SI wearing, coke sniffing,  goggle adorned away fans ?

Good point perhaps I’ll add a caveat along the lines of….given things can quickly change, suggest that you check if away fans are welcome beforehand.

Think you have the away fans mixed up with the home fans on the bottom line ??

That’s a hell of a list, can’t be many better in the country.

I can remember the first home game of the season v Sunderland, we had lunch and drinks at the Cottage surrounded on the whole harbour side by Mackems. The weather was Mediterranean, the water busy with boats etc, pubs galore, good food and they won the game in front of a big following on their first away game back in the championship.

I don’t think away days get much better.
