Kingswood Village
Hi all, I have some Burnley supporting friends joint me for a pre match drink on Saturday. I haven’t been in the robins for a year or two but is it tolerant of away fans in there these days? don’t want to bring them there if it’s going to cause issues as the kids will be wearing colours etc cheers
Ecko
You'd probably be okay, but I'd just play it safe and go to the Nova.

Agreed on this, personally I would do this or other places away fan friendly like the Tobacco Factory.
Ing
Some of us went in there last time Burnley played Bristol City and it was fine. Everyone spoke to us and were very friendly.

Bristol Rob
Earlier this season they asked a Coventry fan to leave, but he was spannered.

pongo88
Try the Merchants Arms on Hotwells Road. There’s never any problems with City and away fans mixing there, assuming they’re sensible

IAmNick
In most cases that depends more on the away fans in question than the pub, so there's no one answer.

Yep and the winner was in Portishead, so best in Bristol A pint of Guinness in the Merch always goes down better for some reason.
elhombrecito
Love how there's so many options for away fans to drink around the ground. Can't think of many other grounds where there's so much choice.
redkev
Is there another team in the championship which has so many away fan friendly pubs , when we go away we get stuck in one ( usually a shit hole ) and that’s your lot

Go off the beaten track and you generally find some decent boozers.

richwwtk
Just a thought, if there weren't so many bloody idiots around, every pub would be away fan friendly everywhere you went. Wouldn't that be nice?
Nogbad the Bad
The Merchants Arms is a great little pub, but it is very small and what I'd term as a drinkers' pub rather than somewhere to take children. Right on the main road too so you'd have to keep a good eye on them. I'd suggest the Nova, friendly and plenty of outside space to sit down with the children if the weather's OK and you get there reasonably early.
fisherrich
I used to go up to London quite a bit on the choo choo with football etc. The Bear just outside Paddington train station is a good boozer. They have 26 craft beers all on tap so plenty of choice. Gets quite a few football fans off the train etc in there so you need to be respectful. Good pub though if you want to hang back, get away from the choir boys and enjoy the day out with no OB following you everywhere. Sensible prices as well.

Bingo. Easy enough to do but it's about using your brain a bit. If you're in a big group singing or rowdy or whatever, you're obviously going to be rounded up and escorted to where the local plod want you to go. A bit of common sense goes a long way.

Was corporate at Cardiff a few years back and held back as City fans were kettled and marched to the Great Western. I waited a good 5 minutes and was on the phone outside station only to be pushed from behind by a copper holding a riot shield. With my accent, I was suspected of trying to organise violence with Cardiff & threatened with arrest. No amount of explaining would convince this copper who proceeded to shove me all the way down to Great Western. I was hit by his shield on numerous occasions until I reached City fans. I literally walked through the City fans to the opposite side of cordon & explained the situation to another policeman who literally said no worries and let me through. Just unlucky that day I guess.
