I remember not so long ago when we were in L1 we played our final game of the season there when they were celebrating their promotion to the Championship and I envied them

Topsy Turvy era that. Southend & Colchester were in the Championship whilst Leeds & Forest were in League 1. Here's some memories of playing The Shrimpers.

City's first game of the 91/92 season was at newly promoted Southend who were playing in the second division for the first time. They took the lead after 37 minutes, but City were playing with both Allison and Taylor up front. In the second half, Taylor was running through, when he was felled at the edge of the box. The free kick was passed straight to him and he slotted the ball into the Southend goal.

That 4-3 win at Derby was to be the high point of the 92/93 season and only 9,515 attended the next home game when Southend, now coached by former City manager Bob Houghton, broke City’s unbeaten record with Benjamin scoring the only goal in the 75th. minute.  This was the third time so far that season an opponent had appeared to be offside and yet had been allowed to score. Referee Vic Callow also ordered off an 11 year old ball boy after an incident with a Southend player. The lad was led away in tears by a policeman!

City's last three games against SUFC were defeats; Oct 2005 3-0 home defeat and at the end of the season, a 1-0 away defeat. 2010 a 3-2 defeat in the League Cup.

I remember going to the last game of the season there in 2006, it was Shaun Goatees final game and there was a neutral end of Man City fans in to see him off.

Ron Martin has been engaging in brinkmanship for years. The housing issue is key - he's basically a property developer and that's his priority.

I thought a previous judge gave him 'one last chance' so this may not be over yet.
