Disaster tonight.

The British and Irish teams playing away all lost. Hibs 2-1, Bohemians 3-0, Shamrock 4-0, Haverfordwest 2-1 and Dundalk 3-1.

Those playing at home a little better; Derry came from behind to win 2-1, Crusaders drew 2-2, whilst Linfield lost 2-5

Tuesday night and TNS have exited the Champions League. Having drawn the first leg 1-1 at home they lost 2-3 away.

A few seasons ago BATE Borisov were in the CL Group Stage. They were playing in this 2nd qualifying round last night and it was live on BT sports. They had lost the away leg 6-2 and you could see there were so few spectators they were all accommodated on just one side of the ground. As a result they sounded more vociferous, but to no avail, BATE lost the home leg 5-3, 11-5 on aggregate.

OK, Glasgow Rangers progressed to the final qualifying round of the Champions League last night where they play Sparta Prague.

BT sports broadcast the Sparta v Copenhagen game live. It was a 3-3 thriller that went to pens. The commentator mentioned that all the Copenhagen fans at one end of the ground had taken off heir shirts. The camera zoomed in to show that some of the young ladies had also removed their shirts. (They kept their bras on though). Copenhagen now drop into the Euro Conference.

More British and RoI interest tonight and Thursday.

OK; Hearts and Hibs both won and progress to the next round of the Europa Conference.

Derry City, having lost their first leg 1-0, won the home leg 1-0. Tie was still even at the end of extra time and Derry lost the pen shoot out 6-5. That was the end of involvement this season for the clubs from Wales, Northern Ireland and RoI. Here on it's only the English and Scottish clubs taking on the rest of Europe.

Tonight Aston Villa play Hibs in the first leg of the final qualifying round of the Champions League. It is not being shown on BBC, ITV, Sky, BT Sports or Eurosport. Just a hunch but if Celtic were playing a team from London or Manchester we'd be getting wall to wall coverage.

Rangers had a 2-2 home draw with PSV last night.

It's on BBC Scotland, BBC website and iPlayer.

OK; the clubs from Wales, NI and the RoI were already out of the assorted Euro competitions.

Earlier this week Rangers lost their qualifying game for the Champions League and now tonight, Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen all exited their Euro competitions.

Celtic had automatically qualified for the Champions League Group stage, but their looks to be a tough group.

I'm English and hope for Euro club success for one of "our" clubs; I just take a passing intertest in the progress of the clubs from the remainder of  Britain & Ireland.
