An unusual side effect

Of the lack of spending the Scott money may just be a “siege mentality” between players and fans. That was fantastic today, the environment in the away end was superb and we could have had four in the first half. Running and work rate non stop across the team and if ever a win was deserved, it was today.

Everyone earnt their money but special mention for the front six - Bell, who I’ve been critical of, was excellent, Wells leading the line but both pipped to MOM by Sykes. Midfield wise that’s as well as James and Williams have played this year and Knight is rapidly becoming a favourite.

Just a fantastic day out. Loved it.

Obvious but if supporters see a side busting a gut, like they did today, they’ll respond.

The ovation when Cornick won that free kick late on after hassling 2 or 3 opposition players single handed was amazing.

Everyone on the pitch gave their all, midfield 3 & front 3 especially.

Brilliant to see.

We can do quite well when there is a bit of a siege mentality tbh.

Different reasons but I recall this time 17 years ago.. late August early September over a week long period.

We lost maybe 3 of first 4 games can't remember exactly.

Carey and Orr fought on the pitch at Northampton, we still won 3-1 from a goal down. One of them sent off?

Cotterill was sold on deadline day.

Several players went to prison on the Friday, Partridge was one can't recall the others.

That's a fairly crap week!

Felt like a bit of a siege mentality in the making. Beat Brighton in the rain, Scott Brown goal and then we we went on a strong run of wins thereafter...promotion, FA Cup run and JPT run followed and it almost culminated in a remarkable double portion

Sure League One I get all that but it possibly provided basis for a bit of  siege mentality for a few weeks the events of September 2006.

Brighton too, beating them first meeting since the 2004 playoff final.

It’s a nice theory and if it helps great, but the team seemed and seem fairly tight already? Not sure a Pearson team would be anything else really.

Indeed, more than time to put the endless finance moaning on hold now, at least until January.  Clearly this team believes, so should we based on our away performances thus far.

Cornick gets massive hate but he epitomises what Nige is trying to do. He’s a willing runner and busts a gut for the team. Plus he’s excellent defensively.

He created the same at Leicester after the Watford Deeney moment.

By all accounts at the start of pre season, in a far more stern and serious way, said do you really want to be known as the side who fell apart in 15 seconds, which will be shown on tv for years and years to come, and then also didn’t get over the line the next season too.

Rest is history

Couldn’t agree more, he is quite funny to watch , rarely wins a ball cleanly but his sheer enthusiasm creates mayhem for those around him.
Well done Harry .

I agree, I sensed a bit more edge than normal from the away end. May just have been the awful ref but the away end was really up for it today.
