Mallorcan Red
Went here for gigs in the 1980s (u2, genesis and live aid) but the only football match I ever saw was Stamford beat Guisborough 2-0 in the 1980 FA Vase final. i remember it being a rickety smelly old place and even with 10 year old legs found it a bit cramped. Eye closer if fists involved. England games at Wembley in those days and in 80's very North v South. Leeds and Chelsea often at it even in the ground. Sir Geoff
Went there dozens of times for gigs (The Who, Stones, Queen etc) Loads of internationals plus our 3 appearances. My first visit however was early 70's on a school trip with West Town Lane for a schoolboy international in which Ray Wilkins was captain of the England team.

Oh Louie louie
I came out of Wembley against Bolton and a Bolton fan took my half yellow half red and put a Bolton hat on my head, which I wasn't over the moon about,

1960maaan
86 & 87 and 99 obviously , but I went for the Varsity match (football) when I was at Junior school about 69. Then England Vs Holland about 82 I think, Vs Poland 93 ish & Eire 1991. I liked the "old" ground, but it was well past time to upgrade it when they did. For the Poland, Ireland & Stoke games they had stuck seats in, never felt right IMO. The "new" still hasn't found the soul the old stadium had. Bobby girl
ex Atyeo Max I went there for the hockey as well, loads of school girls shouting for England , great fun . Loved walking down Wembley Way with the City fans, and opposition fans all happy to be there.

ralphindevon
Besides City’s victory my favourite visit was to see David Bowie in his Glass Spider Tour. Some people weren’t keen on that tour but I loved it, very theatrical.
BS15_RED
I went there for City v Stoke in 2000, I was delighted that we’d got to Wembley as it closed six months after. Yes it was dilapidated, but there was still something magical about it. I remember thing how we were behind the goal where Geoff Hurst scored the fourth goal in the 1966 World Cup final. Maybe a new national stadium should have been built in the midlands and Wembley renovated and used like the Olympic Stadium in Munich is? For me the arch at the new Wembley is no where near as iconic as the twin towers were. Edited October 1, 2023 by BS15_RED
