downendcity
A long time ago I remember someone telling a story of how they we in somewhere like Mexico. Talking to a local who spoke no English he tried to find common ground, so asked if the Mexican liked football. " Ah, Bobby Charlton" the local replied. Says it all about the man - universally respected and admired. 2

spudski
Such sad news. RIP Sir Bobby. I had the opportunity to meet him numerous times, he had time for everyone. He was truly a Gentle Gentleman. Him and Bobby Robson. Real Gentleman, that if we all copied the world would be a happier place.

City37
What a player, what a man, what an ambassador for Football. I am 46 so missed watching his career, though the clips I have seen of him from the past and the charity games from his later years (well in to his late 60s) what a player!!. I'll never forget watching Jack present an award to Bobby on Sports Personality Of The Year (circa 2010 I would guess) he (Jack) very emotionally and proudly finished off his speech with; "Our kid - the greatest footballer there ever was" . RIP legend. 3
