DT The Optimist
Matt Crooks. No25. Was pleased to see him depart the field. Did not know who he was, but having had a look this evening is a forward/midfielder and aged 29 seemed to have played a lot in the lower leagues of the EFL. Valued around 1.5 M. Good touch, mobile and pacy and a handful all day… a couple times showed really good touches in front of the Dolman. A bit similar to Cornick.. shows they are out there without spending mega bucks

DownendRed97
Been a pest for years, always seems to score against us! Clever player indeed. Was impressed with their no 7, Hackney too, can see why he’s highly rated.
Port Said Red
I quite liked their number 7, looked like a poor man's Scott at times, we forced him quite deep towards the end which was a good thing.
Kodjias Wrist
Spotted him at Rotherham years ago. Would love a player like him but they cost alot.

Hackney was their 7 and who was very influential - Their 9 Latte Lath was also very slippery and difficult to mark. Easy to see why Boro were in good form.

Him, Dan Barlaser (now Boro too, came on as sub), Michael Smith, Ben Wiles and Viktor Johansen were all players I thought would make good signings, with a slight concern that they might just be made for Rotherham’s style at the time. Crooks disproved that. +++++ 1 hour ago, Port Said Red said: I quite liked their number 7, looked like a poor man's Scott at times, we forced him quite deep towards the end which was a good thing. Hackney was close to winning the Chanpionshio YPOTY last season, only a tinsy-windy bit poorer man’s Alex!

He’s scored something like 5 goals in 7 games against us now, playing for Rotherham and Boro. The new David Kelly! Clearly we need an experienced striker who is going to score goals. At present that doesn’t really sound like any of Conway, Cornick, Wells, or Weimann, and generally we have been dependent on others from either midfield or defence chipping in to the relatively few goals we have scored. Player for player, Boro looked better than us both on and off the ball, which goes back to that question of do we really have a “Top 6 squad”? (Clue: the answer isn’t “yes”).. I am sure Boro will say they were unlucky to fall 2-0 behind at half time to a great strike and a penalty. Second half they looked far more capable and again undone by a great finish from Sykes from a Van Basten like angle (only a lot closer). Bar BS3
I was amazed when they took him off. He was causing us problems all 2nd half. Very tidy player with his feet, for a big lump of a man. He'd be a useful addition for us, no doubt.
Davefevs
FWIW a player like Matt Crooks, or even Matt Crook himself isn’t gonna leave Boro for us in January.

He was highly rated, but I’ve not ever thought he was that special. Kevin Long for Brum last season at AG took some beating!
