Sunday at 130 the Robins take on the Canaries.

In the week they raced into a two goal lead inside 12 minutes away at Watford but ended up losing 3-2. They are two points behind us in the table, with 23 points.

They dumped us out of the Carabao Cup in late August thanks to a single goal, at Ashton Gate, we only created one attempt on target that night, https://youtu.be/vzZfRGlPjQw

On deadline day they signed defender Danny Batth from Sunderland and forward Ui-jo Hwang on loan from Nottingham Forest.

In October Delia Smith and her husband lost their majority stake in the club after Mark Attanasio's increased stake was approved. The Milwaukee Brewers owner joined the Canaries board last September when the American bought 15.9% of the club. His Norfolk FB Holdings group acquired an additional 195,012 shares, bringing him level with the 40% of Smith and her husband.

See the newspaper clip from February 20th 1909 (with thanks to @ashton_fan) which previews Norwich's big cup tie at Bristol City, this would have been in the run to our only FA Cup Final against Manchester United. Norwich were in the South Eastern league at the time so it would have been a big upset to beat us, we won 2-0. You will note from the league tables that the Gas and Swindle both played in the Southern League at the time.

David Wagner was appointed as head coach in January 2023. The German enjoyed a professional career in Germany where he was a part of the Schalke 04 UEFA Cup-winning team in 1997. His first foray into management came with Borussia Dortmund II. https://youtu.be/WWZW-NI76hs

Wagner has received a vote of confidence from the board ahead of the game, but the decision over his future ultimately rests with new sporting director Ben Knapper.

Norwich have won just two of their last nine games, losing seven, have fallen to 14th in the Championship and any confidence and optimism towards Wagner’s methods in gaining promotion appear to have evaporated.

The Eastern Daily Press has now published two separate editorials calling for Wagner to be sacked, with the game against us potentially sealing his fate should another poor performance and result entail.

Speaking at this week’s AGM, chief shareholders Delia Smith, Michael Wynn Jones and Mark Attanasio discussed the situation at length, deferring the final decision to Knapper, who was appointed in October having previously spent four years at Arsenal as loans manager.

All I've got to add is that one of the greatest Britons, Horatio Nelson, was from Burnham Thorpe in Norfolk, and probably would've been a Norwich fan had they existed when he was alive.

They lay claim to the oldest football chant in the world too - On the ball, City! is 121 years old.

Stephen Fry, Ed Balls & bit more obscure Charles Clarke, too.

Big fan of them as a club, see lots of similarities, big catchment area as geographically isolated, place with good quality of life- things aren’t so great at present but they absolutely piss all over us in terms of historical achievements.

Anyway Pring for Naismith but otherwise unchanged tomorrow, I expect.

Myself I’d start Cornick and move Tommy wide. Bell has been woefully out of form, Mehmeti had no form to start with and Yeboah seems to be on the outers.

Tommy, when he first came into the side, was effectively Weimanns deputy - playing off the front man. He’s not yet ready to play the sole man up front as he’s not physically there. Cornick is. Tommy wide will do more defensively than Bell or Mehmeti and it allows him to link off the front man.

I wonder whether we might see another version of a back three….Vyner Dickie Pring with Tanner and Sykes outside them…but Conway and Cornick together, with TGH, Jamo and Knight?
