Norn Iron
Thanks to BristolRob for the suggestion and Slartibartfast who started the original thread because he suggested John Galley as the best ever City player. Who is the best player you have seen in a City shirt per decade? The only qualifying rule is that the player concerned helped the team to achieve or saved us from relegation. Whilst Jacki was probably the best player I have ever seen in a City shirt, I don't think he qualifies because of the above rule. 70s Norman Hunter 80s Sir Alan Walsh 90s Super Bob Taylor 00 Adriano Basso 10s mmmm 20s mmmm
The Nest Egg
First name follows the rule, the name in brackets is the one I feel was - or will become - the best footballer. 10s: Jay Emmanuel Thomas, (Adam Webster) 20s: Andreas Weimann (Alex Scott) Honourable mentions being Tammy Abraham for 10s and Antoine Semenyo for 20s. His goals did pretty much save us from relegation that season. A more positive option would be Flint, in particular 2014/15 promotion from league 1 and scoring 14 as a Centre Back Flint. Plus he wasn't a loanee. 20s is currently impossible given your qualifying rule? We've neither been promoted nor "saved" from relegation this decade. I guess the closest we've come is 2020/21 when we were on course for relegation under Holden...POTY that season was Bentley. Not sure about that though. Yo know who i mean !!!!! Hi TV Tom, I do know who you mean. And it was a bit of a dilemma but Nest Egg put it succinctly. Norman Hunter follows the rule, however in brackets I will add (Sir Gerry Gow). Whilst I had seen an occasional City match prior to the 1977/78 season, I didn't actually start supporting City until then. Consequently, using my rule Sir Gerry doesn't qualify. Please tell me we are talking about the sane player.

Bristol Rob
Kinda wish I could find the 'Player of the Year' awards going back to the 80s, I feel sure I'll drop a rickett if I try and come up with my short list!

Ashtongreight
Gerry Gow, Merrick 2nd, Cheese but not for long enough really to compare as we’ll never know what might have been. Whilst we’ve had many exciting players over the years, all the really good ones have left to achieve their goals. for me the best of these are Cole, Webster, and now possibly Scott. At a lower level two of my personal favourites are “Smudger”, and “Super Bob”

Eddie Hitler
As I saw just one game in each of the 70s (79) and 80s (81) I'm not going to claim to have a genuine favourite from those decades. 90s for me, started going in I think '94, so I didn't see Andy Cole, is Shaun Taylor. '00s Scott Murray '10s Aden Flint I'm probably biased towards defenders as that's where I played.
