Markthehorn
Do 2 or 3 go through per group now as that probably puts Egypt in a tricky position if it's the former which would please Liverpool fans!

Agree. Crap for the goalscorer as well. It's all about the moment.

RoystonFoote'snephew
Been a decent tournament so far and some real shocks, not the least Cabo Verde topping a group including Egypt and Ghana and today's 4-0 thrashing of hosts Cote D'Ivoire by Equatorial Guinea. One of the great joys though has been the colourful commentary reminiscent of the likes of Sid Waddell and Murray Walker at their best. One of my favourites from today has to be 'when all the gods were around and the pyramids were being built I don't think they had drama like this'
Olé
Ghana have been absolutely awful, we dodged a bullet with Chris Hughton, Mozambique shouldn’t have needed injury time to knock them out, even Semenyo looked totally lost Cabo Verde story is beautiful, smallest country in tournament by a mile, and played easily the best football so far and biggest results. Football mad place with limited space for football:
Northern Red
Hughton was already on thin ice before the tournament as their results in the build-up had been poor. You'd assume he doesn't survive an early exit.

Gazred
Some amazing final group games yesterday. Seems everything happened in injury time to decide places. It's just so typical of the AFCON. Great to see some of the smaller nations making a mark.

Gazred
I see minnows Mauritania knocked out Algeria. They had never won a game at the finals before. They might even still qualify themselves as one of the best 3rd placed sides.
RoystonFoote'snephew
I've really been enjoying this year's AFCON which continues to throw up shocks. With South Africa defeating Morocco tonight (top African team on FIFA rankings) all of the North African giants (Morocco, Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia) are now out of the competition. With holders Senegal also sent packing by the hosts Cote D'Ivoire (who only made the last 16 by the skin of their teeth) the tournament is really up for grabs. Personally I'd love to see little Cabo Verde win it. I've also enjoyed the colourful fans, many of whom seem to move, chant and clap in unison. A particular favourite was the massed ranks of what appeared to be the Senegalese WI who line danced and clapped their way through the game.

It's as random as ever and this tournament, seeing the big boys go out only adds to it. One of my best mates is SA so i've been right behind them, a huge upset tonight. Caught the last 15 after our game, saw a red card, missed pen and the second goal. You never know what you are going to get in any AFCON game. The atmosphere in games is so different to a European match, no songs or chanting as we'd recognise it but they do no stop!
Olé
The hosts are having an insane tournament. This is absolutely ridiculous. 100% Netflix material. Lost twice in group stage including 4-0 to Equatorial Guinea, Sacked manager but qualified as worst third place team. Beat Senegal in last 16 on penalties, 1-0 down and 10 men first half today scored 90th minute equaliser and 120th minute winner. Mali totally lost their heads and attacking ref. Afcon is pure entertainment.

Fine and more reds for sure.
Olé
So desperate for Cabo Verde to win. Semis would be the furthest they have ever gone and they are worth it despite being by far the smallest country in the whole tournament. Play great one touch counter attacking football, where I grew up as a kid a lot of my friends were from Cabo Verde and as mixed race myself they are also a country it is easy to feel close to because that is the norm. Back there in March during the international break (local island not the tourist stuff).
