22A
OK, I know this doesn't affect us, but since it's inception forty years ago, this competition had been split into North and South sections. The top two teams in each section would pay H&A for the right to meet the winner of the other section in the final; (Remember Gillingham H&A in 2015?) This year though instead of a regional final, it's a straight semifinal. Bradford play Wycombe and P'boro' play Blackpool. The two finalists therefore could be two teams from the same geographic area. Any specific reason for the change this season?
bobbyhutchscurlymullet
Been like it a few seasons now I think. I'm sure the gas played Sunderland at either semi-final or quarter-final stage a couple of years ago. Naturally, they lost.
PHILINFRANCE
Strange. When you think that the upcoming UEFA European Championship in Germany is trying to persuade competing Nations to travel to matches by coach rather than flying, this trophy, which, by extension, involves teams who are financially ‘challenged’ has them travelling the extent of the country for what, in essence, is a second rate competition. Why?
sglosbcfc
Thank goodness two teams from the same geographical area couldn't play in the final when we used to be a lower level team. Imagine getting to Wembley and having to play the Gas. We'd only be allocated 10,000 tickets as they have a track record of taking 70,000+ to Wembley for finals.
22A
Oops; found out now the semi finals are one off events, no longer H&A.
Lanterne Rouge
And it is two southern teams in the final, Posh v Wycombe

They had to house the overspill at the Emirates with a big screen. 1
A Horse With No Name
Has an u21 team ever reached the final?
Robbored
I’m just happy that City don’t have to play in it.
Major Isewater
I believe that we have had so much success in this trophy due in many respects to the lack in depth of strong clubs in the southern half of the draw.

That could backfire on them as they might well have unsold tickets whilst many City supporters would be unable to get a ticket as all sold out. I find it embarrassing that City have had such success in what is a Mickey Mouse competition, designed for clubs not good enough to be in the Championship or PL. 1

No..which is strange as most of the PL u21's would be stronger than most of the league 1 & 2 teams you would think...not sure if they play beyond the group stages for some reason.

They do, but physically they cannot compete. They get bullied by bigger stronger teams. Never mind the final, they don't even make the semi finals. Something similar in Scotland, and even Rangers and Celtic U-21s with all their resources don't get to the semi or final when competing with largely part time lower division Scottish teams that have too much physicality.
