BCFCGav
I’m never one for messing around with what works but my initial response is I don’t hate this. We’ll see how it goes.
Admin phantom Posted March 12 Author Admin Report Share Posted March 12 Have to laugh, UEFA have been doing rehearsals for the group stage draw and UEFA have suddenly realised that the Champions League draw in it's current manual format of picking balls of of the bowls the draw would take between 3 and 4 hours In addition they would need 900 balls They have realised now it can't be done manually There will now be a British IT company who will design an electronic system to be used Someone will still pick the ball for the team name, but after that it will be over to this IT system to complete the draw for that team UEFA are confident that the draw will still take around 35 minutes to complete
1960maaan
Not really taken much interest, apart from the odd final , since they made it a Champions League where you don't need to be Champions of your own Country to enter.
22A
Brainwave! 55 nations in UEFA, therefore only 55 Champions. We'll hold a tournament of them. Luck of the draw, no mini leagues, but H&A. Maybe Real Madrid, maybe Larne The lowest ranked 46 will have a 1st round game. The 23 winners with the other 9 would feature on round 2 and the 16 winners into round 3. The entire tournament would be over in five rounds. That way Managers will no longer complain of exhausted players etc. Edited March 12 by 22A
Sir Geoff
Completely lost interest in European football. Too much tinkering, too many dead rubbers, not enough jeopardy. Plus no interest in giving BT any more money.
The Bard
They tried a not dissimilar format for European rugby. It was ****ing shit. No context to games, especially towards the end of the groups. You saw the beauty of groups of 4 at the last World Cup. Copying NFL basically.
