MichaelRobartes
It'll be a tough game for Bristol. It's a really strong Connacht panel and they have more experience in this competition which does seem to count for something. Relatively few teams come in and tear it up in their first Heineken Cup season. Connacht put in a great performance in Paris last weekend too. Not many sides get a bonus point away at Racing. Bristol- ASM was the game of the last round so hoping for another great spectacle with Connacht coming out on top (sorry guys!) If Bristol win, it would be one of the best results of the Lam era imo.
Super
Think this competition is going to become a farce if teams doing nothing wrong get penalised.
MichaelRobartes
Really good win for Bristol. I didn't think they'd have enough experience to go to Galway and win. Fair play. Maul looked really strong. Bizarre that Connacht didn't kick the penalty for a BP at the end. Mad stuff.

Yeah....a game of two halves for sure............. Both teams cancelling out each other first 40 but Connacht having a player binned opened up the game for the Bears in the second 40. That really made a difference along with some very determined defence to keep Connacht out. A good win that especially after the stuffing last week,
Midred
A great win, certainly a step up from the challenge cup "last season".

The Bard
That ref ruined the first half. Like he wanted to break some kind of record for most penalties. A very good performance though..
JBFC II
https://www.bristolbearsrugby.com/news/los-pumas-international-chaparro-to-join-on-short-term-deal/ Decent signing this, even if only short term. With Sinckler away with England he’ll provide some quality competition for Afoa and Co, whilst also being able to cover the other side of the scrum

Bristol have been getting some decent coverage in our media lately because of the Irish connections.

Surprised Sheedy, Lloyd and Malins are all starting, thought we'd see them switching out with the break they all need after internationals. In all honesty we should comfortably beat what's a mix of 1st and 2nd choice harlequins team, famous last words there....
Midred
Good win again - so good in second half 19 - 27 after 9 - 5 in first half! (Don't ask me for any details, only saw the result just now!)
MichaelRobartes
Good second half from Bristol. Poor enough in the first half but they sorted it out. Some really poor decisions turning down kickable penalties at 9-0 down but looked a totally different side after half time. 2
Northern Red
The try just before half-time was crucial. Miles better after that. 1
CyderInACan
Some harsh words from Pat at HT by all accounts. Poor first half but a different story for the 2nd 40 mins. Great win.
Kid in the Riot
Don't want to curse it but the way Bristol are able to churn out wins even when not playing at their best is a really good sign of things to come. Top 4 already feels like an expectation as opposed to a goal.

According to the man himself he didn't raise his voice or lose his rag, just calmly pointed out that if they weren't going to do what they're supposed to then they could get back on the coach and go home.

We haven’t played at our best for more than 40 minutes in any game this season, and yet we find ourselves 3rd with our only defeat coming with a second string side away at wasps. Chuck in the fact we still have Thacker, Piutau, Vui and Morahan to come back from injury, and Sinckler and Earl were rested yesterday, and there’s plenty to be excited about. With how the seasons panning out, I don’t see any other side being as good a challenge for Exeter as us atm, especially with all the internationals taking place this year

elhombrecito
Harlequins’ learned of their positive test on Tuesday, three days after their Boxing Day defeat by Bristol and while the Bears have also reported one case, also in the front row, Pat Lam believes additional safety protocols introduced by the club have enabled the match against Newcastle to go ahead on Friday as planned. Bristol will be severely depleted with all front-rowers who featured against Harlequins put into isolation but, with the club adopting a policy of no training until the results of each week’s tests are known, Lam insists he is still able to select a team. “When you have no positive tests it is easier to slacken,” said Lam. “But we just said: ‘Let’s make sure, we’ll take as much precaution,’ and I’m thankful we did.”
JBFC II
Teams up Great opportunity for the young front row to show what they can do against an experienced Newcastle pack Good to see Piutau and Morahan back as well, what a back line that is!
