The Tinman Question

This quote was taken from Chris Hope from the Judge Institute of Management. He says his equation could help under-pressure club chairmen make up their minds on the future of the team boss.

Dr Hope said his equation worked by taking into account the number of points per game scored by a team, with most weight given to the most recent games

"It would probably be worth their while to spend a few minutes just plugging some figures into this equation... and they might find the performance is not as bad as they thought it was," he told BBC Radio 5Live.

Results show that the best strategy for a Premiership club is to have only a short honeymoon period during which the club will not consider sacking a new manager, to set the trapdoor for the manager's performance at a fairly low 0.74 points per game, and to put just less than half of the weight on the last five games.

(My workings out)

Based on the magic 0.74 points a game

Tinnion All Season (1.40)

Tinnion last 5 games (0.4)

Paul Sturrock All season (1.6)

Leroy Rosinior All season (1.0)

Graydoom (1.3)

Not really looking good is it

Linke for Steve and anyone else who's interested
