"not Enough Quality In The Final Third".

Dear, oh dear.

Now Tinnion has stopped using his meagre transfer budget of over £375k this season as an excuse, his latest one is that we lacked quality in the final third.

Well first, 40 games in and seven signings later, this is pretty much your team now, mate.

Secondly does he give any thought at all to balance when he makes his team selction?

On Saturday the front two aside, the rest of the team have scored FOUR league goals between all this season, no side can get promoted without goals from all areas, in fact last seasons' Argyle side had two centre backs who scored 19 between them!

In fact Jamie Smith's two goals made him statistically our third likeliest scorer, and five of the outfield players picked had never scored a league goal.

All four in midfield were right footed and the side clearly lacks height and physical presence let alone a clear indication of pattern of play and a game plan for set pieces.

I heard a very interesting interview with Newell of Luton at the weekend, where he praised Brain Stein for his work as a coach in improving players, with the possible exception of Stowell with Phillips, where can you honestly say a coach has done the same thing here?

Tinnion out.

We lacked quality because the man good enough to be the playmaker in the Australian national side, is not considered good enough to even sit on our bench.

Tinnion Out!

I wish people would use the whole quote rather than jumping on and critising less than half of the original quote.

Tinnion said "lacking quality in the final third" for sure but he added "and its upto the attacking players to make things happen and they can't wait for someone to put a goal on a plate for them, they have to produce that little bit of magic themselves"

When you read the whole quote it becomes obvious what he's getting at.The strikers were not putting in as much effort as they should have done.

Thats fair comment to me.

It hardly seems fair to blame the forward line when the manager makes the choice to play the best forward in the division out of position and then gets all the other players to hoof 60 yard balls at our only remaining forward.

The management team would be better off acknowledging that they may have made a tactical blunder which would atleast lift some pressure from the players ahead of the Swindon game.

Steve.
