The Gj Effect (makes You Wonder...)

If Magic's motivational and tactical skills are so great that even Woody starts playing like he's worth a place in the team, it's a shame we don't still have Coles and Doc at the club.

GJ seems (on the basis of 6 days in charge...) that he couldve licked these two into shape with his workrate ethic and take-no-cr@p attitude. Imagine those 2 playing at their best and slotting into this team.

Still...Coles for Partridge + £50k doesnt seem like a bad swap, especially now Coles is out for the season.

Coles perhaps, but it looks as though Holloway is struggling as much with Doherty as everybody else has. Even if Gary Johnson could get him behaving himself and playing well it would surely dilute his efforts with the rest of the squad - and with the likes of Skuse and Brown capable of doing Tommy's job without all the messing about, why should he bother?

Too many people, in my opinion, look backwards on this forum. Coles, Doherty, Hill, Anyinsah, Tinnion, Dinning etc are all history. What we saw last night was a very young team playing some super football (at times - it was not a 90 minute performance) with some great movement at high tempo. That is what many supporters have wanted to see for quite a while now and Johnson has so far managed to deliver it. With a few of his own additions to the squad over the course of the season together with the improved fitness and discipline that Johnson has promised to deliver, I would be confident that things will take a turn for the better at this football club. Christ, we've waited long enough!

Guest DELLERS:)
 Another post putting forward the prospect of bringing back ex players!!! Why don't we just forget the past and progress with the talent we already have? At this rate we'll be calling for the return of old favorites like junior bent and gerrad lavin

Coles maybe - but not Doherty. He was too far down the road in terms of boozing, attitude and fitness.

Couldn't see Coles adapting to Johnson's stance on "socialising".Johnson may have got rid of them both just as Tinnion did.

Where is he playing his football now as I'm not sure where it is? With all his boozing, poor fitness and terrible attitude (i take it you know him personally to make that comment) he must be playing non league football now i would assume?

I imagine he will be playing non-league football in a year or two if he doesn't buck his ideas up. The fact that he's not played in over 2 weeks after getting sent off for trying to punch someone suggests that he hasn't made much progress yet.

hes playing for a team a division above us so hes quite clearly made progress.

I meant progress towards becoming a disciplined professional. There's no evidence of that whatsoever.

The man has retired from international football aged 26 for Cliff's sake!

He retired because he hated being away from what he knows and living in hotels for days at a time. It was his decision.

I think Magic could have got the best out of Tommy. Then again, I don't think Tommy is what alot of people think, for some good reasons.

Has he? Only one team wanted him. Time will tell if he makes a success of things at QPR, he certainly has not so far.

Seems to be getting suspended and injured just like he was throughout his overlong City career.

Skuse and Brown are playing better consistently right now than Dohertry has for years.

After just returning from a 2 week ban from this forum Greebo's post has to be the best I've yet read. Indeed, Coles, Doherty, Hill, Anyinsah, Tinnion, Dinning are all history - let's forget them and look forward and go forward with Gary Johnson's BCFC cider army. :farmer:

Well, thanks very much. Perhaps the answer is to put posts with constant reference to how these players would fare under Johnson rather than Tinnion in the "Non-City Forum" and lets worry more about how the current crop are faring - which isn't too badly at the moment.

You are quite correct ... they are much better ... destined to have longer, more successful careers (hopefully with City) than TD will ever know. In fact, if they were qualified, they'd probably be in the Norn Iron squad already and have the character to hold on to it.

I've been busy posting on the message board at..

...during my ban.

I'm absolutely over the moon with Steve lansdown and Keith Dawe for making such a great managerial appointment. Just to look back  Gary Johnson has to be the best managerial appointment made since the appointment of John Ward 8 years ago and maybe even Joe Jordan for the first time 17 years ago. I discounted Gary Johnson as a possible appointment as the board of directors indicated they would not pay compensation. A fantastic appointment nonetheless, Johnson will know the local leagues, knows the area and was a great success at Yeovil - and I wrote that on RivalsNet before we'd even won a game with Gary Johnson in charge.
