Johnson - In His Words

Having left my dictionary at Bedminster Down School, I was wondering if GJ was affecting or effecting happenings at the Gate. ?

Listening to his interview on 'world' tonite, it's clear that the guy has quite in influence on & off the field.

He fillls you with confidence & it appears that he has some strong attributes when it comes to man-management.

It's no wonder SL found him to be the right man when he met him.

It's hard to believe that its been less that a fortnight since he breezed into the Gate.

But what a breath of fresh air GJ has been.

He certainly is having an effect within the fanbase & having an affect - b0llix's - is it effect or affect.

Whatever it is GJ is an interesting guy to listen to.

No wonder Richard Latham is enjoying his interviewing !!!

Nice editing there Richie, was just going to make a pun about your mistake!

:rofl2br:

Anyway, as you say, the guy has been a breath of fresh air and certainly seems to be affecting the whole mood around Ashton Gate.

When it's the noun then we generally only need to use effect. Affect is usually for psycologists and other people interested in cerebral issues.

When we use the verb, affect is more common meaning influence rather than effect meaning cause.

Love it....... the English language.......... And Bristol City FC :D

Affect -

  1. To have an influence on or effect a change in
  2. To act on the emotions of; touch or move.
  3. To attack or infect, as a disease
Effect -
  1. Something brought about by a cause or agent; a result.
  2. The power to produce an outcome or achieve a result; influence: The drug had an immediate effect on the pain.
  3. scientific law, hypothesis, or phenomenon: the photovoltaic effect.
So theoretically it could be either....

Definately not neither (oh heck is that a double negative?), so probably both! :bonkers:
