Guest Thornbury Ciderhead
Having watched the Brighton v Plymouth & Arsenal v Man City games over the weekend, I noticed that on each occasion a player took the ball into the corner flag to waste time, they were penalised when the defenders charging in got blocked. Have the referees been given new rulings or have I been asleep for a few months??? Sorry! it's non City - i'm just intrigued
terpin
Haven't actually seen any directive released but I fully support it.
The Man In Black
As far I know and have always called it, it is only against the rules if they stop the attacking player from getting the ball by using their arms (i.e. to stop him going around or holding onto him). Then it's impeding their progress
Guest pogue mahone
Its a terrible terrible tactic, and given how much better than man city Arsenal are, incredibly puzzling. Do they have so little confidence in their capacity to hold the ball? A bit cowardly for them to do that. especially as thierry henry is apparently the best player in the world. Lordofthebling
its part of the game sadly - murray did it in the LDV's for us and i was shouting at him to do it!! At least its not as bad as diving - or complaining to the ref... aarrgghhh!

Admin Ian M Posted February 2, 2004 Admin Report Share Posted February 2, 2004 Not "is apparently the best player in the world." but IS in my opinion Unfortunately your opinion counts for very little as you haven't been involved in the game in a professional sense for the majority of your natural life. Or don't you apply your rules to yourself?
bcfc seattle
I think i heard something from fifa a couple months ago that the player holding the ball and keeping the others from it would start to get called for obstruction (good rule change if you ask me). Just run him over and its a foul on him

TinnionForEngland
If Henry does it then that makes him even better, anyone would have to be stupid to play it around in injury time - Mindless. Do what you can to get the win.
