Totally outplayed then, according to a mate at the match, said Noble was top class and are best player. We could have won by alot more. Look at the report on the main site mate.

What are you going on about? Your keeper was by far the busier of the two and we were unlucky not to take a point from the game.

Your defence was awful and if we had a decent ref (there was a cast iron penalty first half) we'd have won not you.

basso had one decent save to make, as for vale should have had a point, this blokes is defo on drugs, countless great chances to add to our tally, we just never took em, not to mention the half chances, all in all a bloody good performance but vale were missing a few players, so don't get carried away yet.

We have more players injured than fit and at the start of the game played a left back in central defence, played a right winger up front and a player who retired in 1999 in midfield. All our outfield subs were 20 or younger and 3 of them are on YTS contracts.

6 first team regulars out injured, our top scorer last season being one of them. Any team would struggle if they suffered as much as we did. Our captain was out as well.

It's a squad game.

We've had OUR fair share of injuries this season so I guess what goes around etc.

Take the pain and shut up

we beat you

didnt listen 2 the radio but did we deserve to win or were we hanging on

Well, poorish game, but who cares 3 points is 3 points. The difference was Brooker up front, Heywood and Carey at the back and Noble and Russell had decent games in the middle, ie the spine was pretty strong. Vale werepoor and offered little threat afterthe opening exchanges when I thought Basso looked dodgy but became far more assured as the game progressed.

We need to get challenges in higher up the pitch, felt Sonner (their man of the match) controlled the ball when they had possession between the boxes mainly because we backed off far too much.

Possession wise we had more of it but offered little threat in the final third until the goal (ie half time all but). This was mainly due to the inability of Savage to control, pick out a pass or release it at the right time!

Comfortable in the second period, could have scored a couple more. As said in the intro, a win is a win, who cares how they are achieved at the mo.

Disappointing that we haven't climbed a place or two.

Arghhhh a bitter Port Vale fan, got one thing to say to you, we took our chance and scored and won 1-0, and we also missed a hat ful of other chances, so get over it, the best team won

just wondering what was basso like today?

He was very very solid. Made one spectacular save late on, right out of the top corner. Punched well, caught a good few crosses and generally kept everything with great ease.

He had a couple of times where Heywood didn't hear him call but that is something they can work on. The fact is we now have a keeper who is not only an excellent shot stopper but commands his area, and gives the defence some confidence.

Having seen our line-up before the start of the game I would have been happy with a point, sadly for us that wasn't to be. Didn't think that you were too good today either and you've still got some way to go before you can say that your safe nevermind playoff material, but we're all entitled to dream!

Brooker was class and I personaly was dsappointed to hear him booed having played some 140 games for us and then leave for a reasonable fee. A number of Vale fans were fairly (I said a naughty word) off by his hush celebration but after them giving him the 'you fat b@$+@rd' thing I thought he had every right to.

he's right in two respects, they did have a penalty shout in the first half (hand ball) and Basso kept us in the game twice.

But he's also wrong in two respects: firstly we deserved to win, and secondly for being a Vale fan.

Good joke. Apart from the first 10 mins you only had one shot from Lowndes. 2nd half we should have added another one or two. Ref was poor for both sides.
