North Bristols Cider Army
If Steve leaves, will the club still grant him his testimonial, or do you think that they may grant him a friendly game before the beginning of the new season, he certainly deserves something for his time at the club, or will the club tell him to get lost and give him nothing
Dinky Gems
I couldnt agree more, i have alot of time for phillips, even with his transfer request he has given alot to this club and played a big part in our winning of the ldv vans trophy and getting into play offs ect. I think he deserves something, and i will be there what ever it is
Guest The Codfather 0312
In Theory he should still get it, I remember a few occasions where players have left and still get given testimonials.

Simon Lambley
Apparently he will only get it if agreed by the club, Otherwise he will lose it.This is not my answer , i have no idea but i have asked round the office.
Lordofthebling
I'd imagine any club signing him may have to stump up a signing on fee - in retrospect of him losing the testimonial.
Dinky Gems
It seems a shame that they can take it away from him just like that x
Guest harveythompson
Why should he get one? If he isn't willing to stay and fight for his place he can't love the club that much
Evy11_BCFC
Why should he get one? If he isn't willing to stay and fight for his place he can't love the club that muchThoroughly agree, if he really loves the club that much then he would fight for his place and gain the right to have it back, which he doesn't at the moment. Dinky Gems
I'm not to sure about that, he has done well for us over the years, he is bound to be a little out of sorts with the situation and the way the fans have slaughterd him. he still deserves recognition for what he has done for the club. We were all singing his praises a few months back x
worthyred
Why should he get one? If he isn't willing to stay and fight for his place he can't love the club that muchAbsolutely right, Steve has given this club good service over the years but if he is not willing to stay and fight for his place then his testimonial should be cancelled. If he is as good as he thinks he is then his next employer will be willing to pay a nice little signing on fee.
England
He has been very well paid for what he enjoyed doing - why the hell should he get a testimonial?
Guest The Codfather 0312
What made me laugh though was the fact that he said he is going to give 10% away to charity. Not much of a gesture is it 10%.

CotswoldRed
Cancel the testimonial. Its bizarre to give one to a player who is unhappy with the club and wants to leave.I agree he's been a great servant, but that's not enough on its own to earn a testimonial. i.e. Isn't this his testimonial year, thereby he should play/be available for selection in it? This is not salary, its a Christmas bonus. How many of us have had a bonus for serving 10 years in our job.Having said that, its the choice of the player. I believe the player should indicate beforehand where the money is going. If you don't like it, don't turn up and donate your cash yourself to some worthy cause.
