redseptember Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 We have signed the boy Andrew on loan apparentlyhttp://www.luton.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=8324
gazareth Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 That site refers to a 'successful loan spell at Grimsby'. According to Soccerbase he scored 1 goal in 3 starts and 5 sub appearances. Hardly what I'd call 'successful'.
gazareth Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Just had this confirmed by official SMS. One month loan.
Guest HambrookRed Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Just had this confirmed by official SMS. One month loan.Comon then stato....who is this guy
Guest mtraveller Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 we need a older head who knows this div i hope this does not rule us out of signing hayter.

Guest Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 I wonder if this means Gillespie is off to Cheltenham, he can't have much of a future now
Guest HambrookRed Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=39720hmmm....???Not alot to say about that is there
gazareth Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 From the main site:http://www.bcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/...~775507,00.htmlCalvin Andrew became Gary Johnson's latest loan signing today and trained with City for the first time. The 19-year-old Luton Town striker has moved initially for a month, but does not rule out staying longer if things work out.Calvin is 6ft 2ins and can play up front or wide on the left. He is left-footed and Gary believes he will add something different to City's attack. The manager told bcfc.co.uk: "Calvin is strong and quick. He is also very mature for his age and has played a number of first team games for Luton."The fact that he can play in more than one position is also an attraction. He has a fierce desire to succeed and that is the sort of player I want in my squad."Luton-born Calvin came through the youth ranks at Kenilworth Road. He progressed through the reserves and has made six first team starts, plus a further 13 appearances as a substitute.Calvin has been allocated squad number 18, which was vacated when Scott Golbourne signed for Reading.

Northern Red Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 we need a older head who knows this div i hope this does not rule us out of signing hayter.Don't think it does. Maybe not Hayter, but I think we'll get another striker. GJ said on Saturday that he had a new signing to announce today, plus someone on loan if he hadn't changed his mind over the weekend. Whether the new signing is another striker, we can only speculate, but if Andrew can play on the left as well, then it suggests that a striker is on his way.

I think he said "I think we'll have at least new face in on Monday, probably on loan".
solo1bc Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 He sounds alright so let's give the kid a chance.Quick, strong and versatile so if we'd already signed another striker I'm sure we'd all be a bit happier.Hoping that Wayne Andrews or Hayter signs today though.
Guest mnporter2001 Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 i would have thought he has been bought into play on the left (hopefully) that means we are still looking for another striker, i cant beleve this is g.j big announcment though, fingers crossed theres more to come
Guest mtraveller Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 squad no 8 is still up for the taking. andrew has been giving the no 16 shirt. hopefully hayter will be no 8. after all this lad has only joined for a month. the other loans fontaine and green are he looking for a full contract.
A Horse With No Name Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 It sounds to me as though GJ is signing him just for the sake of signing someone. He says that Andrew is 6ft 2 and will add something different to City's attack. Like what, exactly? A small nippy guy would have added something different.
Jimmy Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 he can't have much of a future now My thoughts exactly.

downendcity Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 we need a older head who knows this div i hope this does not rule us out of signing hayter.Ive seen a lot of posters saying we need expeience. I am just reading an article in today's Daily Mail about the country's in form team - Colchester. 7 of their starting 11 are under 23, an their age and lack of experience doesn't sem to be doing them any harm.
havanatopia Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Erm.... PACE maybe??exactly. who gives a monkeys as long as he adds something. we should be thankful we can sign players like it goes out of fashion in this league. firstly because we can and secondly because we are a big draw at this level.take a look at B'mth getting all excited about spending a sean o'driscollll record fee of 20k on a player. now that is interesting to say the least. !
Guest HambrookRed Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 From what he says on BCFC World he seems like he has his head screwed on. Nice bloke and seems ot want to achieve. Good luck to himPS the world interview video is al sorts of messed up, starts at the end and end with the introduction, you also get a bit of Bradley Orrs video from last week, aswell as some GJ as a taster...Good work
Guest Ivan_is_a_legend Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Calvin Andrews, that was well worth a months wait !!! suppose we better give him a chance.mr johnson better have something special to pull out his hat either today or tomorrow or i for one will know quite a few, how do you put it, 'unhappy' supporters.

Guest theoldfirstdivision Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Why should the supporters be unhappy. We had a great win on Saturday. We've lost 1 in 10. The team looks settled, fit and confident. There are better deals to be done in the summer than now. All we need to do is stay up. Things have changed since GJ's 'this is not my team' comment'. We've got some cover in case of injuries.
Guest Ron Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 A Striker and a left-winger all in one Well done Gazza

We've got some cover in case of injuries.why should we be unhappy, do you really need to ask.this was a month that promised so much and delivered little, not even that, nothing! apart from 3 more loan signings!!!i can only hope and pray that neither brooker or murray/cotterill gets injured cus if they were really in the crap house!we didnt just want cover for players, we wanted reliable cover. i would us rather give our own youth players a chance in the first team like benyon or williams rather than loaning in other teams youth players!!!
Guest Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Can you say 'rush job'? Clearly Master Baker is tired from yesterdays game. Sloppy stuff (bit like his distribution yesterday really)
gazareth Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Clearly Master Baker is tired from yesterdays game. Sloppy stuff (bit like his distribution yesterday really) Is there a match report for the forum team game anywhere?
Pie Eater Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Could the nippy striker we require already be here.If this guy can play on the left, we could move cotts up front.I know it is not idea put who would you put money on to score. Cotts or Savage.
AdamB Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Clearly Master Baker is tired from yesterdays game. Sloppy stuff (bit like his distribution yesterday really) I need a new head and a new body!Adam 3-2 is re-editing now
Guest jamesh Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 spoke to someone i know who is a grimsby fan and i asked about andrews and they said:we had him for 3 months. we played him out wide rather than up front, he's only small but he's quite quick. he scored goals for luton reserves but only got one for us. i didnt think he was up to scratch, he was ok but he didnt make me think he ws any better than what we already had... i was surprised he signed for bristol city! he's not very big/physical...
bucksred Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Speaking to Lu'on fans-some don't rate him at all, others say he cant get past Shiwomniyi, and howard, but might do a good job, reckon hes quite skillfull and strong. He'll certainly be a worker if hes a Lu'on player, no doubt about that.
