Very interesting that is. Maybe in hindsite we should have got rid of Tins a few weeks before the Swansea defeat. But we're where we are now and nothing can change that. We need to move forward with everyone supporting the cause and pull in the right direction.

Those tables just give renewed hope for a possible promotion push next season.

There is a genuine case for optimism based on recent form.

What happens from now until the end of the season and in pre-season is paramount.

IF we win all the games left.......unlikely, but possible, there is a very slim chance of making the play offs.

I don't think either will happen and GJ must decide who is staying and going.

It looks like Stewart, Wilkshire, Phillips,Savage,Smith G,Smith J, Harley, Fortune & Partridge will move on. (9)

I hope McCammon & Fontaine stay, providing the right terms can be agreed.I haven't seen enough of Green to voice an opinion.

Retaining Brooker is key and we need a further 4/5 quality additions (not including Mac & Margot) in my view, providing we can keep most of the current squad together.

The fact that Hayter's signed a new contract only meens that Bmth will get a fee for him and I think it says more about the players lack of ambition and reluctance to move than anything else.

Forte, Reddy etc are potential targets as is Lambert at Rochdale.

Having saved the club from relegation, we'll now see what Johnsons made of in the transfer market.

Yup, if only we'd appointed Gary Johnson after Danny Wilson was sacked.... :crying:

Interesting one that.

Tinns took quite a bit of stick for selling Coles and Doherty, but I can't see GJ having put up with either of them for more than 10 minutes. I reckon he'd have actually got more stick for selling them since he was new to the club.

He'd probably have played Lita as well though not as much, and maybe not have signed Brooker. Certainly wouldn't have signed Stewart or Bridges.

We'd have a very different team now I reckon.

My biggest critisism of Tinnion isn't the Coles or Doherty thing at all - it is that in all his time in charge we didn't once have a settled team. He never knew what his best formation was, what his best midfield was and went to work on breaking up what when he started was a great back four as well. The only area he can take any credit for is up front, where Brooker was a great signing and he handled Lita very well.

Put simply the situation when Wilson left was much better than when Tinnion did. If Johnson had been able to show only half the improvement in selection and results then as he has now then I believe we would not be seeing nearly as many 'if only's on here.

And as for the signing of Stewart and Bridges are you saying that was a good thing or a bad thing?

I agree, and I was fairly frustrated with the team changing all the time under Tinns. He seemed to me to be too reactive. That's why I would have preferred an experienced manager with him as assistant, he needed to learn a lot.

I felt the same when Johnson was doing that earlier this season, and it's noticeable that our improvement in form coincides exactly with the team selection settling down. No coincidence IMO.

I've said before I'd never have signed Stewart if he's on anything like 5 grand a week. And in hindsight for whatever reason neither signing benefitted us much, so I'm saying that never having signed either would be a good thing.

My whole argument on Stewart was in the context of the limited options we had at the time, that he was better than the alternative (Savage), and that having already signed him and therefore already paying out the money we might as well try and get some sort of value for him. No more no less.
