They are also considering Forest Green Rovers new ground (which only holds 5000 so shows their level of support) or the cricket ground.

Forest Green are looking for a reserve team to give the firsts a bit of support, sags probably not up to the job.:pray::pray::pray::dunno::dunno:

Yes, conveniently my missus lives just around the corner and as planning law is my speciality I shall be making sure a strongly worded letter with valid grounds for complaint will be winging it's way to BCC asap.

As for them coming to AG for 18 months, no chance. Send them back to Twerton.

From what I've seen of the artists impressions of the proposals for the rugby ground the buildings would be very close to the existing housing and I think would contravene the required 20 degrees angle of light for the existing houses.Which is why I think the Attyeo stand had to be reduced in height. So if you can! tell them to sling their hooks. They also seem to be very concerned about the inconvenience to the locals whom they don't want to upset, (I don't think so).

I don't think we should share with either.

We don't want to help Rovers out for obvious reasons of rivalry, but even more so for commercial reasons because if they had a decent stadium they might start getting ideas above their stadium and trying to run gigs and events that we want at the gate.

We don't want the egg chasers cutting up our lovely pitch.

Anyway, they've got absolutely zero chance of finding £30m in finance, and the local residents will block the idea.

all falls in place now

new prem seats etc developomnig the ground.....bristol rugby is coming to the gate ...and the pitch being chqnged..perhaps a more hard wearing turf..if there is such a thing :dunno:

The pitch gets relaid either every season or every other season I believe, and I don't think the prem seats were put in with rugby in mind. They just want to screw some more cash out of businesses - fair enough IMO.

I wouldn't rule out Bristol Rugby playing at the Gate, though I don't really like the idea of that especially during the winter. They could fill it for some games. I can't imagine Rovers will play there though.

This whole Memorial stadium thing is a pipe dream that will never ever happen. Rovers are making statements as though it's going ahead to cover up the board fiasco, the reality is they will never get planning permission and even if they did they have absolutely no way of getting £30m of finance. I mean, we couldn't even find £8m and our ground isn't mortgaged.

I am still not sure why the Rugby Club don't play at the Gate more as a few seasons ago they played Bath and got a sell out with a lot less segregation than at a football match which probably means there was about 20,000. If this could be done a couple of times a season (eg against Bath, Gloucester) this could be of great benefit to both City and the Rugby team. The only problems with this could be the rugby club and fans not wanting to move out of their home for such games, thus losing possible home advantage and they may have a contract with the Sags that all home Rugby games must be played at Whorefield, unless this is impossible due to fixture clashes etc.

what if we shared ashton gate, and then had to play them in the cup. who would be the home side?

Also there is no way any any of the blue few are sitting in my seat, NO FIRKIN WAY! :Rage:

if a ground share went ahead there would be bloodshed

The home side would be the team that were drawn at home.

If the club made some serious money out of it I can't see any problem with it - its just not worth throwing toys out of the pram about it. I think that a lot of people have forgotten that the fixture lists will be fed into the computer so that we don't play home games at the same time.

I just hope for your sake that there weren't too many Gasheads who happened to be around your seat watching The Who last night!! But I wouldn't bank on it!

30.08.80 Grimsby Town (FL) 4,461

03.09.80 York City (LC2) 3,047

13.09.80 Oldham Ath. (FL) 3,808

23.09.80 Portsmouth (LC3) 6,982

27.09.80 Newcastle (FL) 5,171

Average 4,694

Those were the attendances when they played at AG in the 80's.

It would surprise me if they did come here and have better crowds than that.

I think from Bristol City's point of view it would be more viable to have the egg chasers here instead as they IMHO would bring more fans' here and have more sell outs and I think but not sure they would play less games in a season than a football club would?

I went to that Portsmouth game, remember recognising a fair few familiar City faces in the Enclosure.

I've got a feeling Rovers also played Swindon at the Gate, though maybe not in 1980. Seem to remember there was a bit of trouble and the EP blamed City fans.

Anyone verify that fixture?

The thought of Rovers groundsharing with FGR has really brightened my day.

There's only one team in Bristol

One team in Bristol

There's only one team in Bristol

One team in Bristol

Or as the new shirts say

Bristol "Your" City

Is that correct? I'm a bit Tired and cant really remember well

All I remember about the game was coming back to a damaged car. :ranting::ranting::ranting:

We had gone away with CATS and left our car as usual in the City car park. When we returned the wipers and wing-mirrors had been snapped off by some Gas/Swindle toe rags. It was one of many cars damaged.

Another reason why we shouldn't offer use ofour ground for so many matches. I don't see there would be a problem with Rugby fans, unless someone knows different?

I've always wanted to go to a rugby match and would if Bristol Rugby were at the gate. Some of their fans might join us for the odd game too? That's never going to happen with us and the Gas!

I'm not being negative just realistic, I'm sure if we were looking for a home they wouldn't want us either.

yes i was there, swindons promotion season, they beat the gas can`t remember the score, something like 4-3

some city fans got at swindon fans in the dolman, they were escorted out, and later they entered the enclosure where the bulk of the gas were, i was in the williams.
