Clubs that have successful cup runs have to rearrange League fixtures and it's not unknown for some clubs to have played three games in a week or four games in eight days even as the season must end by a set date.

Go back 30 odd years; the Watney Cup and the regional stage of the Anglo Scottish Cup were played instead of pre season friendlies. Hopefully it won't apply to City in future, but how about playing the JPT over two or three weeks as a pre season tourno? During the Summer City hosted Shrewsbury in a meaningless game. Who knows, a few weeks time we might play them over two legs in an important one!
