cidercity1987 Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Murray on for Russell (injured).Murray, Johnson and Noble in centre midfield! Unless we go 4-4-2 with Wilson and Fontaine full backs, Murray and Betsy on the wings.
Guest noggin Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Well done Basso. He has pulled off a couple of good saves to keep City in the game. A good first half display from City (according to the radio commentary) - come on City.
cidercity1987 Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Orr on for Johnson. Keogh in defensive midfield apparently.

City_pete1 Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Christ must be injured??? lets hope notI have been listening while painting so lost touch of who playing where and formation. Anyone help out...?
cidercity1987 Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 So on the pitch now we have: Basso; Orr, Keogh, Fontaine; Wilson, Betsy, Murray, Noble, Woodman; Brooker, Andrews. Surely we've got to abandon 3-5-2 with these players left? Play Wilson, Keogh, Fontaine, Wilson along the back with Murray, Orr, Noble and Betsy in midfield.
City_pete1 Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 So on the pitch now we have: . Surely we've got to abandon 3-5-2 with these players left? Guest richerella Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Yes get in there city we needed those points. This is a massive result. Gets our confidence back and get's us back up to third. Other results have gone our way admittedly but this is a huge result from the boys.Congratulations City!
Guest Jamie Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Well done City, needed this and we got it plus more with other results going our way!
Matty H Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Well done? Sounded like anything but to me. Appeared to be a thoroughly inept performance and another day Blackpool would have hammered us into oblivion. Fortunately, very very fortunately, it wasn't another day. Next week will be though so we'd better pull our collective fingers out
Guest noggin Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Well done City - fantastic win. Other results went their way too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Going up this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Matty H Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Well done City - fantastic win.We clearly listened to totally and utterly different games. Nothing I heard today makes me think we're going up at all
aa_bcfc Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Well done? Sounded like anything but to me. Appeared to be a thoroughly inept performance and another day Blackpool would have hammered us into oblivion. Fortunately, very very fortunately, it wasn't another day. Next week will be though so we'd better pull our collective fingers outThats a bit harsh.Playing away to a team on the edge of the playoffs will always be a battle. Did sound as like we were under the cosh though.
City_pete1 Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 We clearly listened to totally and utterly different games. Nothing I heard today makes me think we're going up at allIn fairness we have got to remember the changes we have made and we are away to an in-form Blackpool (who already beat us at the gate). We had a few good chances as well, don't think we can complain. Although I was pleased we played another team who played a higher division team into extra time in the week, so they would be just as tired. And it looks like we had a few subsitutions forced upon us!
Matty H Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 I'm waiting for the old chestnut about playing poorly but still winning being the sign of a promotion side. Who wants to be first?

Every team is going to have unwanted injuries or suspensions and have to make unwanted changes. These sorts of excuses gloss over things in my opinion.
cidercity1987 Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 I'm waiting for the old chestnut about playing poorly but still winning being the sign of a promotion side. Who wants to be first? What are you chatting about? We played well against a good team, scored more than them, hit the post, missed other chances. Away from home any team has to have the best of the luck, which we did and everyone else except you are over the moon.
Guest Jamie Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Think this proves some people will never be happy, go support Chelski or Man U. We played a fantastic game midweek against Boro' and with a new formation and changed team we went to a very hard ground to play good football at and we did what any good team would do in our postion and that is grind out a result. Can you not be happy we are now even closer to automatic? You would of probaly moaned if we won 4-0 somthing about the fact we had not cutting edge to our game and our goals were lucky! Just be happy about a City win!
City_pete1 Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 I'm waiting for the old chestnut about playing poorly but still winning being the sign of a promotion side. Who wants to be first?Enjoy the win. Its away and a batteling performance by the sound of it. They needed the points and got it, as results proved. Good day I reckon, enjoy it.
BIGPHIL Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 I find it absolutly amazing that we get a 1-0 away win to an in form side, placed to chalenge for play offs and some still find a need to moan. Maybe we werent impresive but we dug out a win what more do you want. Other results going our way puts us 3rd.COME ON YOU REDS BELIEVE

You know, 3 points. 2 points off automatic.

Away from home any team has to have the best of the luck, which we did and everyone else except you are over the moon.Of course I'm over the moon but I'm not going to sit here and blow sunshine up the arse of a performance that will lose us more games than we'll win over the course of a season. Look at the bigger picture in terms of the game as a whole. And it's not just this game is it? Take aside Boro and look at the last three league games

Every team is going to have unwanted injuries or suspensions and have to make unwanted changes. These sorts of excuses gloss over things in my opinion.Sometimes I read this board and cringe. Great result, good week. Confidence back amoung fans (due to results). Moved up the table.Well I'm happy, a win is a win and we didn't half need it! people have got to remember other teams can play well also, we have no right to win and roll teams over especially away. Great result, lets just enjoy it!

Look at the bigger picture in terms of the game as a whole. And it's not just this game is it? Take aside Boro and look at the last three league gamesTake a look at the stats. I'm sure they'll show were worthy of the points. None of us were there, so can't really make a judgement though. But listening to Radio Bristol, Bristol Boy came on and seemed happy with the performance. I'm sure if you tune in then the other consensus will be the same. We've been a dodgy patch lately but touch wood we've turned the corner.

They are happy and praising the performance, they saw it with their eyes and were happy!

Moved up the table.Well I'm happy, a win is a win and we didn't half need it! people have got to remember other teams can play well also, we have no right to win and roll teams over especially away. Great result, lets just enjoy it!Difference is that this board is full of idiots who will orgasm at every city win yet be on here slagging them off every time they lose. I've been watching them enough years (plus I'm older than 13 which appears to be the average mental age on here*) to take both views when it merits and not just comment based on the scoreline*not refering to anyone in particular before personal attack is insinuates as a way to win a lsoing argument
robins72 Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 I think that we can be pleased that we got 3 points at Blackpool. The fact that the pitch resembles a sandpit wouldnt help our passing game. We had players suffering with fatigue from the midweek cup game yet we battled and won the game. Whats wrong with some people? We have 14 more cup games to go yet. Todays results went for us as Oldham Forest and Yeovil lost. We have a good squad of players who are still learning but the cup games would have been a great experience for them. Lets just be positive tonight praise the team and the manager for a win that rarely happens at bloomfield road.
City_pete1 Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Difference is that this board is full of idiots who will orgasm at every city win yet be on here slagging them off every time they lose. Sounded like we battled well against a home team loosing and putting pressure on us. they were desperate to win this one, reading grasons comments. They have spent a but of money in the past year too. The pitch sounded terrible too, which does not help. I just cannot see why you can not be happy that the team got what they aimed for, the win, and defended the lead we got well!
bucksred Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 3 points away at a challenger for promotion. sounds good to me. well done City

I've already stated I am happy for the team. I was bouncing off the walls here when the final whistle went. What bothers me is current form. Forget the Boro game. The performance there meant nothing as far as the league was concerened. Underdogs usually do well in circumstances like that and the quality of opposition was completely different and they should have won in normal time as their second half performance was far superior to ours, as you would expect. So it's a non starter to say how well we played there like 'some' are.The last four league games we have not been the best side and for four successive games that worries me. Rightly or wrongly it worries me. Deja vue? Yeah why not. We've all been here before and another playoff bearth does not cut it for me anymore I'm afraid

We played poorly against Cheltenham and Huddersfield but were unlucky against S****horpe (remember Betsy's miss?) They certainly didn't outplay us and we were unlucky to lose. Today we had the luck needed to win a tight game against a good team. That's exactly what we need to get promoted.
