Robbored Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Brian Tinnion or Andy Cole.Go back 25+ years and it would be Gerry Gow.
boadle Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Glenn Humprhries, for that extra 'bite' in midfield.
Waffleflap Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 My dad Garry James. He played for the youth team under alan dicks and was a quality striker who played against some of the best but didnt quite make the grade because of the quality they had in their side.He will be there 2moro and would love to stick one into them.It would have to be alan walsh for me.Great free kick taker, and I'm sure there will be plenty of those.
samo Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 The 2002/2003 Scott Murray please!that's just what i was thinking!
Sir Colby-Tit Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Would have to be the main man, the legend that is JOHN ATYEOOops, didn't notice the 20 years clause. Would have to be Tommy Docs then, just to let him off the leash and chase all those sadsags round the pitch biting at their ankles.
DeadmanTF1 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 The Mark Gavin after Birmingham away game were he stood on the coner flag conducting the city masses
Dogbert Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Dave Smith rampaging down the left wing for me
Guest TheBerkeleyBoy Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 God David Smith what a player!!!! Didn't he get a gashead sent off in one Derby - Ian Alexander I think kept running at him and was kicked all over the park, the ref bottld it time and time again, in the end got a second yellow for kicking the ball away. What year was that?Sorry probably on wrong thread - My other favorite would be Alan Walsh
CityGill Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Shaun Taylor, We need a real leader on Derby day
greenun Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Gerry Sweeney, described to me by Norman Hunter as the fittest player he'd ever seen. A great box-to-box performer, who was comfortable in defence or midfield and scored some vital goals in our '75-'76 promotion campaign.
GrahamC Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Paul Agostino, was there any Derby game that he didn't score in?As for the suggestion of Jacki, don't make me laugh, the only derby he played in was a 4-0 defeat at Twerton where he stood and watched his teamates, there is no room for passengers like him in these games..
Red_Mat Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Gus Ceaser.Just to give the sags a chance.....

Jay Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 As for the suggestion of Jacki, don't make me laugh, the only derby he played in was a 4-0 defeat at Twerton where he stood and watched his teamates, there is no room for passengers like him in these games..Maybe so but as the question at the start of this thread was "If you could pick one City player, from the last 20 years, to be added to the starting 11 tomorrow, who would it be?". Jacki's debut game was one of the best debuts I've ever seen, hence why I mention him on his debut & not the Twerton disaster!
Guest Red Wardy Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Gus Ceaser.Just to give the sags a chance.....Joe Jordan. Just to see the fear in Flapper's eyes as the Shark's head goes for a ball that's only 3 inches above the turf.
greenun Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 He left in 82 so is therefore ineligible under the 20 year clause In that case I'll go for Gary Shelton, a player who would sweat blood for City and a tremendous midfdield general and captain.
redsince82 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Steve Phillips........... Just so he can sit on the bench and the gas wont have any real contender to put between the sticks!!!!
Guest DanC Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 As above, Take away there biggest threat.
Rocky Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Good to set up a poll on this one...? techies?I'd go for Tinman or Murray of 02/03 as a poster above said!70's team was about 5yrs before my time!!
madmax Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Lee Matthews Well he did score two the last time!MM
simon uk Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 it would be fun to get Lita back for the game, imagine what he would do to their defence!
Guest Red Head Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 it would be fun to get Lita back for the game, imagine what he would do to their defence!Agree with that. Lita will play for England, bigger than Andrew Cole!
westonred Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 The only thing missing is a 25 goal a season striker so i would have to go for Andy Cole or failing that Leroy Lita cus lets be fair he hated the gas as much as the fans...
City_pete1 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Lee Matthews Well he did score two the last time!MMCrew have said they would let him out on loan, so you never know! I'd go for Akinbiyi of old. I can just imagion Phillips having to deal with his physical pressence for crosses and corners
Andy Horsman Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 TINNION He scored against the RoversHe wishes they were deadand when he sees a gasheadHe will kick him in the head..........Poetry
bradshaw Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 bas savage hes going to be top scorer nxt season in the prem ive heard chlesea r intrested.
exiledinwatford Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Pity about the 20 year rule - Joe Payne might have been a good bloke on loan. My personal choice would have to be Tinman - worth two players at most times but especially against the sags
citytop22 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Louie Donowa, cant forget his volley in the last minute to virtually send the sags down
RedTop Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I'd keep the City side as it is and add that scumbag Ian Alexander to the Gas team instead. The idiot found it almost impossible to stay on the field for the whole 90 minutes and the predictability with which he forced the ref to produce the red card was always amusing.
Guest Redbarn Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Well done Bristol Rob, good thread!.....going to give my age away here, turning the clock way back, a ginger haired left wing wizard...no.7 on his back, by the name of Jimmy Rogers, John Ateyo connected with many of Jimmy's pin-point crosses.I immediately thought of Jantzen Derrick, another left wing star, I know, I know I can only pick one, so I will stick with Jimmy Rogers.
Guest Redbarn Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Me?...what a ####, the original thread said 20 years...got it now!up to 1987....Sean Goater....prolific goalscorer who seemed to sneak in from nowhere sometimes.
