CodeRed
It's Grote's agent who has released the story and you have to consider WHY he's chosen to do this now and not after the two earlier rejected bids.Agents only earn when players move or negotiate a new contract. It's in the agents interest for the player to move - if the deal was progressing he'd be quite happy, now he's gone public it can only be to alert other clubs as the agent must think the deal is in doubt (ie City won't pay any more). So he goes public and hopes that other clubs come and top City's bid - meaning we then up the cash or drop out.The fact that the negotiations are now public does not - IMO - look good for our chances of signing him.I can't see SL being the type to enter a bidding war. More likely he'll say this is our best offer and wait to see what happens.remember he wouldn't get drawn into offering over the odds for Hayter (good decision as it turned out - did he actually ever score another goal after ?) even though we were desparate for a striker at that time.Maybe if were lucky no one else will come in for Grote!CodeRed

East Yorkshire CideRed
Yeah, crossing, free-kicks and corners are supposed to be his strengths (speed apart). Had five assists and one goal in a run of ten Bundesliga games at the end of the season. The Bochum fans don't seem to want him to go and find it hard to understand why he'd want to leave the German top flight to go to the English second tier ... but Bochum have just brought in another left-sided player, so maybe Grote's had the nod he's not going to be first choice??Blagdon Red - Dein Deutsch ist prima! Wo hast Du es gelernt? Ich wohnte nur ein Jahr in Oesterreich, wo ich Fan von FC Tirol Innsbruck war (Bundesmeister 2000-03, ich glaube - leider sind sie Bankrott gemacht). So no chance of this Grote then? merrickstash
Does the fact that there is a conversation taking place in German indicate that City's already gone upmarket? What next, swapping David Cameron-style references to Demosthenes as we discuss the quality of pies at Plymouth?
