Re: Ivan "forrest Gump" Sproule

Hearts F.C. : 1874

Hearts basically think they're Chelsea so everything they say is best taken with a truckload of salt. After all they told us Jamie McC was crap and Lee Johnson wasn't good enough for their eastern european XI... we know better.

Sproule looks like a player who can run at defenders with exuberant pace and cause problems. That in itself is good enough for me.

In fairness, being from Scotland myself and following Aberdeen (one of McAllister's other ex clubs) I was far from excited when City signed him as he hadn't looked up to much in the SPL. Was delighted to see him do the business for City and hope he continues to do so again next season. I hadn't seen much of Johnson, but my mate who is a big Jambo thought he looked excellent in the few games he played for Hearts.

Sproule I'm not 100% sure about. He can be excellent, but his decision making isn't great at times. Hopefully Johnson will get the best out of him.

Glad to see i shut the Hibs fans up on here, with the use of fact.

As in, it's a fact that they have the second worst derby record (Hearts V Hibs) in world football. Whoever asked if Hearts are from Edinburgh, ofcourse we are, we're the prominent Edinburgh team, with Hibernian playing in Leith, which is now apparently twinned with Rio De Janiero (Yet it's full of whores, poofs and junkies.) If anyone has seen 'Trainspotting', then that's a Hibs area of Edinburgh that it's set in. Midlothian is the 'county', if you like.

Oh, and btw, 1000 ST's sold by Bristol Rovers? How embarrassing is that?! We've got 13,000 season ticket holders at Tynecastle, and i trust yours is similar?

He had a rough time at Hearts, to be honest.

He got a lot of stick when he played, as it seemed he was a prima-donna after being signed from Livingston when he was one of there best players. Then, in a semi-final, in extra time, teams level with 30m seconds to go, he layed it off to an opposition player and the boy scored to put us out the cup. He got even more stick after that, despite coming on to a game under Rix, and was deployed in centre midfield before being shipped out with Johnson.

Now, Pospisil is a dodgy one. He came here with so much promise, a Czech U-21 international who was very confident. He was producing the goods for a while but generally he's been pretty poor for Hearts. When George Burley signed him, he proclaimed him as better than Skacel, who has since earned a big money move to Southampton. He was out of favour at Hearts for a lot of last season, and regularly bitched to the papers that he might leave, before he started playing more regularly. However, his form was poor and he has the first touch of a rapist at times. He's a decent finisher when he doesn't have time to think, but when he does he's more likely to baloon it into the stand.

I mean, there's a chance he'd start showing his early promise again down there, with a fresh start. It's hard to explain to someone that knows little about the SPL, but there's a lot of inner politics at Hearts which complicate a lot of situations. Whether that effects some players more than others is probable, and i feel Pospisil would thrive on a new start at Bristol.

And his wife's phenomenal, btw. :fingerscrossed:

That why Lee Miller went to that pile of shite in Dundee the dirrrty Arabs then mate, after havin a good season wi you lot?

By the way class argument Edinburgh derbies. A Celtic supporting mate of mine said youse lot hated each other! I beleive him now.

ROFLMFAO, Now can you see the difference in class between the Yams and the Ednburgh Hibees?

Leith is now a cosmopolitan area, flush with massive redevelopment that has seen the countries premier businesses and house builders locate to the area.

This is also the locality of the Royal Britanica, The Queens Ex-liner, which attracts hundreds of thouands of visitors per year.

Gorgie, is located next to a pig farm, a tenement dump twinned with the local brewery, the stench of which is unbearable after the Slops have stewed on a Saturday morning.

2nd Worst Derby record is a complete and utter lie, and desperate attempt by a 'Believer'

A Believer by the way are the Hearts supporters who believed the Roamanov bile 'We shall win Champions league in 5 years'!!

Get a load of this wee video . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ca4wEtGd--M

Trainspotting, for the record was named after the Old Central station that used to reside at Bottom of Leith Walk, however 90% of the filming was actually completed in the West of Edinburgh (Muirhouse, Pilton etc), near Gorgie due to the lack of run down Housing estates within the Leith area.

Please take pity on the sad liittle Yam when he revisits.

Finally a last word on Pospisil.......He is utter gash, first touch of an Elephant, and a girly pansy to boot.

Wouldnt last 20mins in Champ.

Good luck in the Championship guys.

Used to work with a mad Jambos fan. He used to sing insulting songs about the pope whilst he was working.

He told me a great tale of some geezer conducting the Gorgie Road choir with an open cut throat razor - oooeerr.

City and Hearts have a connection in that our "naughty boys" go by the same initials.

That night the commentator realised how daft it was and said "The Rovers fans ask the supporters of Bristol City whether they are watching but in truth i would doubt they care as they have of course been promoted to the Championship" :winner_third_h4h:

This thread has been a good laugh..

But which side is the good, honest, holy side like us reds!

And which is the vile, decaying, hated scum like those blue and whites?

:englandsmile4wf:

THat depends on whether you want to have affinity with the side who set standards or follow them:

i.e Hibernian were (among other firsts):

First British team to Play in the European Cup

First British team to play a European tie in Glasgow (The Weedgies hate that fact)

First British club to have advertising on their shirts

First British Club to have advertising on their Shorts

First Unofficial World Club Champions, beating Preston North End 1-0 in England in early !900's

Hearts of MidLithuania were the first SCUM on the planet and have remained so ever since!!

Not a hard choice really.

What a great thread. The most entertinaing i've read on here for ages!!! A bit of good fashioned secterian hatred, some interesting football knowledge and a picture of a bird with cracking norks!!! Take note fellow forumites, this is an interesteing thread!!!

Three things to help move this on :

1) Can someone log on as Hibs or Hearts fan and continue to whip up these two boys from north of the border.

2) The club now need to sign someone form Wolves or West Brom, then we can watch these two go at it for bit

Finally

3) From now on, all threads should be punctured by a random post which says "i don't know, but heres a picture of (insert footballer)'s wife"

P.s Has Tom changed his mind and come back?

Alright guys? Just new to the forum and thought i'd sign up to give you an alternative opinion on Ivan Sproule. I'm a fan of Heart of Midlothian FC, the other team in Edinburgh, which continually outplays Hibernian in the league, and regularly dishes out severe beatings.

Anyway, i see the opinion on Ivan Sproule on here seems to be very high. Now, i can vouch for the fact that Sproule (known to all in Scottish football as Forrest Gump) can run, and TBH he can run at the speed of a whippet, and is only matched in Scotland by Aberdeen's Michael Hart. He has, over the last two and a half years, been a good player for Hibs, and chipped in with a good few goals aswell, particularly in the Tony Mowbray era. He was well liked by Hibs fans from early days after scoring a hat-trick against his boyhood heroes, Glasgow Rangers, at Ibrox and immediately winning them over.

However, i'd stress that his actual footballing capabilities, and end product, are limited. He tends to either run it out the park, not release the ball early enough, or blast it into the side netting. Although, as you can see by the YouTube videos, when he does score, they're usually belters, to be fair. His temper is also in question, and he was often criticised for his over-zealous attitude, which can be a good thing at times, but also could conisder him a liablity. For example, in last seasons Hearts v's Hibs Scottish Cup semi-final derby at Hampden last year - the biggest derby ever and a game in which Hearts won four-nil- Sproule was sent-off for a vicious stamp on Hearts' Salius Mikoliunas. He was also seen to be gesturing to the stands at Tynecastle on occasions, and generally courting controversy.

Now, there's been constant speculation all summer linking him with Norwich, and Hibs turned down a £1,000,000 offer from Dnipro, of Ukraine, two years ago for the Ulsterman. With Sproule now joining BCFC, i wasn't surprised to be honest, as i don't feel John Collins fancies him as a player, and he was regularly benched in his last few months in Scotland. He's been the next victim of the cull at Hibs, who are intent on selling everyone to the Old Firm, with Caldwell, Killen, Riordan, Brown, Murray and Thomson all leaving for Glasgow in recent years. For me, this has been funny, as Hibs are refusing to pay any players over £3.45 a week, while Hearts aces Craig Gordon, Larry Kingston and Goncalves 15K a week. I'll let you work out who Edinburgh's version of Bristol Rovers is. ;-)

Thought i'd just give you the heads-up on that one, guys, as he may not turn out to be Cris Ronaldo, although i reckon he'll be a good acquisition for Bristol. Not be over-hyped until he settles down there.

PS. How's Jamie McAllister getting on down there? I'd presume that he was, as usual, pish.

Cheers. :)

Dundee United fan here.

Sproule is undoubtedly a player you'd pay to see play -a great entertainer if not the silkiest player. He will have the crowd off their seats. If he can improve his finishing and stay out of the pubs you've got yourself a good investment i.e. could move on and up for a big fee.

Even as a United suppolerter I've looked out for Hibs games on tv just to see Sproule. Reminds me of a certain R.Milne who came down your way well after his sell by date...
