of course we need him. he is a very talented player, and has many years ahead of him. Elliot will not play all the season, injuries, cards etc. and every player needs competition for places.

Agreed, to maintain momentum its vital to have strong cover & competition in all departments, we shouldn't be taking any chances with the strength of squad .... so no exSkuse's thanks very much.. :)

Any of the players not getting into the first team on a regular basis needs to be evaluated by the manager as to what are the reasons he's not making the squad and if the reason is the player infront of him is currently in good form and he can play in that position if required then the answer is keep him, if however he's not making the team and there are players ahead of him in the pecking order and the quality of the work is lower than what he's replacing then it's time to get them out on loan and see if they come back better - I think JMW might be in this position - cant see him getting into the team ahead of any of our strikers and not on the wing either - see if he improves whilst on loan - if not then the player will be informed he's not in the managers plans for the future and no doubt the agent will do what he's paid for - Betsy is nearly in the same situation but unlike JMW his right wing position is filled by Sproule and Murray and Murray is not a better long term solution than Betsy therefore probably wont be told that he is not in the managers plans but if he wants a move then he might granted to look for a team who are willing to pay money for him. Skuse is far ahead of JMW and Betsy in this regard and is a better long term bet than Russell - so yes keep him, his oppertunity will come and will be upto him to perform whilst the injured/suspended player is out of the team.

It seems that as soon as we have a good game with 11 blokes on the pitch people want to get rid of everyone else. If we are to get into the top flight of football one day we need a squad of players. Look at the talent Man Utd and Arsenal have languishing in their reserves or on the bench...most of them would walk into a team at our level. Even Sheffield United had players that cost more than our entire team on the bench last week. We need to build a squad of 22-24 players all capable of playing in the first team, all hungry for success. They should be a mix of big physical players for when we play the big physical teams (Vasko, McCombe etc) and some skilfull, fast, nippy players (Sproule, Murray), some that can put in a telling pass and have good vision (Noble) and those who will run their socks off for the cause and tackle (Carey, Elliott, Orr). Set piece specialists (Johnson) and a myriad of other skills. Then we can pick the best team for the game in hand 0- like Johnson did last week when he picked Noble...and if it needs changing to hold on to a result in the latter stages players can come on and change the game (like Skuse did last week). Skuse and Trundle both played a part in the win over Sheffield United and we need them in the squad. We also need more competitive reserve games then we wouldn't have to send so many players out on loan.
