Seend Red
Sorry but tonight I thought the main reason for our defeat was us, the fans.Yeah-I'm sorry! I did try to convert that chance in the first half and stop Reid crossing the ball on to Chris Iwelumo's head but I just couldn't get there in time If singing is that important to you maybe you should of auditioned for 'XFACTOR' . Barrs Court Red
I have a feeling that because we've won a few games, some fans and players may be slipping into a comfort zone. I'm sure a few thousand last night probably expected us to turn over Charlton just because we're started well.Lets not forget they were in the Prem last year! Frome Valley
Well yes!!!!!Portsmouth is a dump, and their team was rubbish and second to southampton for years, but now they've got a rich backer(hmmmmmm) but their fans DO make a difference!!!!bolton were nothing, charlton didn't have a ground, derby played in a dump, middlesborough played in a bigger dump, sunderland the same, newcastle had 12000 before keegan came back, fulham..... well, blackburn, just look at the place, blackpool... giving it a go, s****horpe... the same.....all i'm saying is maximise what we have then we might have a chance, and what we do have is a very loyal and passionate fan base, so lets make it work for us, and if we all made a positive noise, then it might help!!!!!!Thiery Henry once stated that it must be impossible to be Portsmouth player and not be affected by their support.Thats what City fans should aspire to and try to make our players feel like they are lucky to play for this club. giles_23_bcfc
I agree 100% with this quote,Home games are becoming rituals whilst away games give so much more enjoyment.Roll on Ipswich saturday2000 City fans singing for 90 minutesdon't quite see how you work that out considering weve got about 1300 tickets. 800+ were sold at the time of asking yesterday afternoon. richieb
How do you explain the fact that significant numbers of people have left the Dolman after 85 minutes at every single home game since it was built irrespective of the score then? Shit people left early to skip the traffic when we won against Rotherham last season to get promoted. If that's what they want to do let them, I don't care as long as they don't stand around and block my view. There's no need to get all superfan about it.Totally agree Nibor. As long as fans who decide to get up & leave, do so & don't block the view of others, then whats the problem. Frome Valley
Totally agree Nibor. As long as fans who decide to get up & leave, do so & don't block the view of others, then whats the problem. As City went 1-0 down last night it was the cue for hundreds to walk out from the Dolman and it would have been very noticeable to the players. Hardly going to encourage the players is it?

Frome Valley
But the EE singing your support is ######g sh*t at them is? Didn't hear it but it would have been to the point. When Johnson asks for more vocal support constantly walking out en masse like last night is not what he meant.
Guest Addickted to Charlton
Interesting to see your views lads and lassies. Only 14,500 fans, Well we only bought about 466 yet at Southampton more than 2,000. The Atmosphere, well you can only judge this from match to match, how each teams playing, and only you the regulars at Ashton Gate can judge how good or crap the away support is. I guess had you been playing Cardiff at home last night, the atmosphere probably would have been more venemous. From Our point of View, it was good to see the respect given to Mr Randall from all supporters and the Wreath gesture from Charlton, I'm sure some would say we wouldn't want to be upstaged by Wolves, but Charlton is and always has been a great family club, and would have come up with something from the directors and supporters.I've been at other away matches where only about 500 have gone ( Yes our away support is not good), and yes a lot of the times it's been quiet, but last night from where I stood, Charlton made some noise, and City must of heard us, because We got the usual responses. Mind you the taunts of Your Welsh and you know you are, were uncalled for.As for the game, 1st half to Charlton 2nd half to Bristol. Andy Reid played well and for me Jerome Thomas is improving with every game and is certainly a name to watch in the future. Danny Mills is well, Danny Mills and does a good job at the back. It's about time that Refs allowed tackles again and can distinguish between a good tackle and a life threatening Norman Bites yer legs type tackle. All in All not a bad performance from both sides, lots of stupid mistakes, and at the end of the day Andy reid comes up with a great pass for a powerful header by iwelumo to seal the Game. Never fair really in the 89th,90th or 90th+ minutes, but it went our way and not yours. We'[ve had plenty of games where it's been the other way round.0-0 should have been the result, but hey i'll accept
bringbacktherobin
Nice post and made noise? Maybe 3 or 4 times, never heard the "your welsh and you know it" and i was in the same stand as you.

tpitman
I've got no problem with the noise levels (although the atmosphere certainly wasn't 'venomous') or the Dolman early leavers, but only 14,500 City fans tonight? That's flipping shit. They anounced 15,500 didn't they?
Nibor
They anounced 15,500 didn't they? 15.4k total but 900-1,000 were Charlton fans. Not a particularly great attendance against one of the sides I'd have thought people wanted to see (though after seeing how they play I doubt they will in future). Roger Red Hat
Lets not go into why the hell did GJ bring noble on for trundle....The reason was that it enabled us to go 4-4-1-1, heralding our best spell of the game, and I cant understand why we didnt make the change at the start of the second half. Our play immediately became joined up and we regularly out manouevred them. I don't know who else we have who can play the'hole' role. For me LT is far too easily knocked off the ball, lacks mobility and a lot of our play breaks down when it reaches him. I really hope he makes the grade but I certainly have my doubts. icamanicity
I left the dolman early, almost 21:30, because i have to go to work, my wife was waiting for me in duckmore road,i have to be at patchway,as i work nights, but that is the first time i have been in the dolman this season,i am usually in the williams or atyeo.. westex red
Well I thought the Dolman was pretty good.Mainly Block A, B and C.I sit in B in the Dolman, this was the worst support from us all season, and we are all in this together, team and fans, we only sing after the opposition score, thats cr@p! havanatopia
Sorry but tonight I thought the main reason for our defeat was us, the fans. That and Lee Johnson bottling a tackle on half way that led to the goal, that is.Here we are, sat in our highest position for 30 or so years and those who attended sat back and expected it to be served up on plate. Well, for those of us there we barely made a noise. GJ openly speaks up and urges the fans to be the twelth man and we needed it tonight, as in previous home games, against a side that were Premiership last season. Unless we collectively do something about this, especially when the team were as tired as it looked tonight, then we can expect a swift slide back to reality so sing the hell up. Don't have the chance to see many matches Tins but the last match i was at... Southampton,. I felt exactly the same. I did my level best to get those frozen arses moving and shouting but nothin' doin. You are bang on with those remarks.
Markman
Perhaps we have this all wrong? We are all very happy with our performance so far, like where we are in the league and so all is rosy.Loud chanting may make the players feel under pressure to deliver and then again sullen periods of silence splintered with the odd roar may be a bit of a shock soperhaps we should all sit there smiling smuggly at our postion and sending out a feeling of calm and contentment, the boys will relax and another win will surely come?
