Do You Remember When We Were On

Never to the dark side

Recommended Posts

Yes, I was there - my first full season of watching City.

As a result of this defeat Fred Ford was fired as Manager three days later.

There were 3 goals in the last 4 minutes of the game.

Alan Skirton scored two of the Seasiders goals and just over a year later he was to join City in a £15000 deal. He is / was Yeovil's Commercial Manager.

I'd buy that DVD if it was available for the nostalgia

AND Quigley was NEVER off side for that "goal" that would have put us 2-1 up!

might go have a look at THAT video(if I can find it)

Alan skirton was featured in mondays evil post

my memory of skirton was at Wrexham,I think

we were on the side line when a wrexham player

nearly pulled skirtons shirt off his back

so skirton took the shirt off and threw it at the player doing the tugging

ref went over and said OFF

no yellow or red cars in them thar days

Home to Man City ,two seasons previous, 1-1 (bbc 2 then)

Feb 5th 1966 - you are correct!! 1-1 at AG, that result left us 6th (take that in May 08 wouldn't we?).

I didn't know about that game - sadly I only stated going at the start of the next (1967-68) season, so I missed seeing the Great Man play (Johnny Atyeo) as he retired at the end of 1966.

I only saw him play in his testimonial.

Blackpool are bringing out a classic matches DVD

which include the above game

I have a lancshire hot shots video and one of the featured games was that

blackpool game

Maybe our club could do a poll(which Blackpool did) asking which City matches

City fans would like to have on DVD

When I was sourcing material to screen at the Supporters Trust launch in November 2005, the BBC quoted me £200 to have the original film of this game transferred to Tape/DVD.

Needless to say I declined their offer.

Most memorable MOTD appearance for me, boxing day 1993 - home to Forest, got stuffed and Collymore got a hat-trick - Gary Linaker was in the Williams ... I was down in Bristol for Christmas and, despite protests from pregnant wife wanting to get back home to London, stayed for the game. Son ended up being born same day - in Southmead ... true Bristolian :)
