EastEnder
Thanks for remembering I think any Footabll fan who has ever been caught in a crush can empathise totally. I wept then and still get upset by those images now. Total respect to all involved RIP

Guest N1 Jim
Why were my comments taken off? For daring to mention the lack of culpability attributed to the South Yorkshire police? Shame on whoever edited my post
Glastonbury Red
"The Sun's dead good, it's got birds with big knockers. Take them in work and decorate your lockers. The sport in it's boss, especially the racin'. And the 'oroscopes tell us the day we're all facin'." "Don't you remember, you ignorant swine? All the lies they told in eighty-nine. Let me remind you just what they said. We ###### on the bizzies and robbed our own dead." "But the telly page's sound, they've got bingo and lotto. And on one of the pages there's a nice little motto. Anyway Evo I just didn't know. It doesn't matter now it was so long ago." "It does ######in' matter! It matters a lot. People had children they've no longer got. People had fathers they'll no longer see. They said that I killed them, they said it was me!" "Shut up will you Evo. You're always bangin' on. Hillsborough and justice, all that carry on. Anyway Evo get out of me face. It's only a newspaper in any case." "It's not a newspaper. A newspaper has news. Not made up stories with which to abuse. What they said was "The Truth" were scurrilous lies. We got no apology. What a surprise!" "All right then Evo what should I buy? Tell me one, give me the reason why. Which one do you think stands out from the rest? The Mirror, The Echo, which one's the best?" "Don't buy the Sun. It's fit only to burn. Don't buy the Sun. There's nothing you'll learn. I'll say it once more and then I'll be done. Buy what you want but DON'T BUY THE SUN!" Peter Etherington Spud, bless you for reminding us all of what happened. It's good to know that moments like this put us all in our places and let us think about what it really means to be a football fan. The Sun was a regular feature in our house till that day, never been read since. ######s. N1 Jim, I never got to read your comments but i'm guessing they are along the same lines of mine which cannot be written here. Justice For All R.I.P. Spud55
EDIT - Sod it this is not the time and the place for having a go at the police. I shall leave this thread puerly for the remembrance of those that so tragicly lost their lives.
City Exile
Basically the Sun had a heading the next day whih put all the blame on the Liverpool fans, accusing them of pickpocketing the dying, and positioning the whole thing as a football hollaginism issue. bucksred
Saw the tribute at Anfield yesterday, has it really been 15 years?? Thoughts are with the families, and Pray God, it NEVER happens again...football should always be about enjoying yourself, and not scenes like that. jimmyb
An absolute tragedy and one of the reasons why terraces should never be re-introduced to football grounds anywhere. I notice though a lot of people on here are too young to remember the events - for which i would recomend reading 'Hillsborough : The Truth' by Phil Scraton (just checked its available on amazon for £6.99) I've got this myself and its well worth a read - very sobering although quite heavy going in places over the legal battle with S.Yorks Police - very enlightening indeed. City Exile
Would also suggest the follwing for a quite harrowing first hand account - from a 17 year old at the time. I would genuinely only read this if you are hgappy to be 'moved'. http://www.contrast.org/hillsborough/history/gary.shtm
Cidergal
Didn't realise it'd been that long. RIP, thoughts go to family and friends of them. Such a shame the amount of people who lost their lives because of it, and the some of the ages these people were is shocking.
