  1. When was the last time we gave a 4 year contract to any player. Normally 3 years + option at a push. Just like Weimann's last contract solution, those extra years make a difference, rather than wages.
  2. Same odds as Plymouth? ? Hmm.... they really don't rate us do they?
  3. It's funny reading Robin's quotes. "Fast, pacey, attack minded" are not adjectives that spring to mind with Dasilva. Technically very good, and excellent close control would be my ones. Can't quite remember a time last season when Jay actually got to the goal line to get a cross in. He would normally look to stop a good 10 yards beforehand before producing another wonderful overhit cross.
  4. Yep, It'll be interesting to see what their definition is of a "Concourse". Given their excellent disabled sections, I'm guessing it'll be a hole under the seats of the stand with 1 or 2 portacabins selling food/drink. Hardly a concourse as such. Also what about the toilets in this stand? That would take time to build/get the plumbing done (probably by asking for volunteers again). I'm guessing the portaloos will be making a reappearance on the hurry up, but how many are they going to need for a stand that supposedly carries around 3-4k? Plus by law, they would have to have disabled facilities as well. Still just over 2 months until the start of the season, no rush Rovers, in your own time, absolutely clueless. As it stands how many balls are they going to lose into the back of people's gardens there? Probably put up a large net to protect it all. This is going to look absolutely awful come August.
  5. God knows where we would have been without the Academy over the past couple of years, L1 probably. However, unless the current bunch move on/god forbid pick up longer term injuries, it is difficult to see where the next batch will get the same amount of minutes. The difficulty for the Academy, Tinnion and of course NP to a certain extent is how to continue to integrate the under 21s, and even younger ones in some way; whilst adding experience and championship quality that will allow us to push on into the top half of the division. There are going to have to be some hard calls (of the Towler ilk i think) along the way. We are guilty of our own success to a certain degree. But the Championship is such a hard division that having young players playing in the first team in order to give them experience is generally not an option unfortunately, they have to be better than what we already have at our disposal. Who'd be a coach? ?
  6. I had hoped after Gould's hard work that the whole saga of FFP and Parachute payments would have led to the Championship being a fairer place for a majority of the teams. Is it still the case that nothing has been decided, or even in fact gone to a vote of any kind? It just seems to me around 8 teams (the ones that have revolving promotion/relegation doors) seem to dictate the financial policies for the whole division, knowing that they will be backed by the PL in their endeavours. A real shame that at least 2 out of 3 promoted will continue to be from this group.
  7. Are we sure about those figures for Leeds and Brentford? Our wage bill is £26m in last accounts. I can't see that Brentford and Leeds are £10-12m less than ours? Forest bought in 22 players, and are paying Lingard a reported £200k per week. A lot of those figures seem somewhat low in my opinion. https://www.teamtalk.com/news/ranking-every-premier-league-club-by-their-annual-wage-bill-man-utd-above-liverpool-and-arsenal This seems a lot more likely list.

  9. Wait until the school holidays start, and Roy DeAlien comes back.....??
  10. Maybe when the new stand is built, they can move this deluxe main disabled section over from by their East Terrace. Someone has made a fortune selling those white garden chairs to them.?
  11. Is Chukwuemeka from Chelsea going to be a part of the squad when he is finished with Chelsea? Certainly made a difference in their Euro campaign/
  12. I'm sure City have actually used Rob's image in promotional literature and online in the past. Demonstrates the passion he had for the club ?
  13. Always be grateful for those Super Bob times....?
  14. New Gas reporter due anytime then ?
  15. Interesting that Sam Frost has been moved on from his almost complete obedience to the cult of Barton. Hopefully James Piercey will be able to challenge Barton more on his style of management. It's felt like journalists were previously scared to call him out on his decision making, and behaviour.
  16. A ggod example of this @Davefevs is of course Naismith. Started off the season at CB ( a bit ropery at times), then in the Swansea cup game moved into CM where alongside the change in formation, the team flourished. Then when he came back from injury slotted back into CB. A great utility acquisition by the club.
  17. On the contrary, happy with last season and the fact that the run Jan-March took us away from the trouble that looked like happening after the WBA on Boxing day. I was never been part of the NP out brigade, and stuck to my guns against Ian on the FBC podcast throughout the difficult times. More a statement of how we move forward from 14th this season to upper half/playoffs next season. The lack of goals in the team beyond the forwards is something that obviously needs addressing.
  18. In terms of us, ie he is the new guy on the block all PL are supposedly looking at. If we were looking to sell, now woukd be the best time to maximise his potential. It'll be someone else next season, and injuries/form/entering into last year of contact post season could all play a part on his valuation.
  19. All good points @Percy Pig. It's certainly been good to have a player that everyone talks about. I do wonder whether Conway will be similar in a year or two? Going to be an interesting contract discussion around him soon. Like Scott 2 years left on his deal, and probably not on the greatest amount of wages. Yes, I know he's local; and loves the club etc. But like Pring, we need to lock these players down for a few more years after 2025.
  20. Would have been Interesting to see Tommy's final tally if he hadn't got injured and misses 3.5 months. For me, he was looking a bit tired, and out of his earlier season form when the injury game. Not surprising when it's his first full season at this level.
  21. I get that in the short term. But I remember how it turned out with Jack Clarke when he went back to Leeds from Tottenham. It depends on how we are planning for next season. One of the points that NP makes clear is the need for more goals from midfield. It's fair to say this is an area of Scott's game that he needs to improve on. If by playing Scott you aren't playing one of those players that you specifically bought in to do that job then tough decisions would have to be made. I love Scott, and it's been a pleasure to see his development over the last two seasons. But in all honesty, the last 2/3 months of the season weren't his best and of course he had probably his worse game for the club versus Burnley in the last home game. Whether all the press, media nonsense has got to him, I can't say; but his stock will never be higher than what it is now. Like when Semenyo left, others have had to step up to the plate. Having Conway back was like a new signing, but collectively as a team we still only scored 4 goals in our last 8 away games. Winning 4 of our last 13 games after the Man City cup game. A lot of those games Scott played in, don't forget. Yes it was a collective issue across the team, but Scott was part of that issue unfortunately,
  22. You can imagine the conversation between Lamouchi and Tan when the reality of the financial situation became apparent.
  23. So much for all of the Cardiff fans social media around Tan "really going for it next season" and "he's putting in £20-25m" type quotes. You try and explain FFP, and Tan can't simply put in x amount of money. Unless of course he completely gambles like Forest, Bournemouth or Fulham did in order to get to the PL. This managerial development today just smacks of more cost cutting for next season, and having to do more with less.
  24. I'm not sure what the natural benefit would be to us as a club as well. NP made a big play on SOTC about using continuity in transfer dealings/squad evolution. Having Scott with us for another season would mean that one of the new signings (or an academy player) would only have to wait another season to gain valuable first team minutes. I think this also relates to his views on loanees, you can't really plan for the future development of the squad, when you are spending a season developing other people's players. I also think why would a PL club want Scott to play any more Championship games to "develop"? They would want him playing at a higher level, or a top level european club. Nothing to be gained for them playing him at a level/division in which he has already played two seasons.
