  1. Blimey those figures for 2018/19 & 2019/20 are stark aren't they @Davefevs? Somewhat potential conflict of interest in driving transfers isn't there?
  2. On a plane with the Australian team isn't he?
  3. Doncaster Rovers, another team that has dropped like a stone and has appointed a former manager to recreate past glories. A bit like us with Jordan really.?
  4. Christ that is bad beyond belief. There are Toolstation sides with better facilities than that....
  5. If it's not ready for the start of the season, does that mean that their capacity would be something like 7.5k?????? The mind boggles...???
  6. If he spends any more time there, the Gas will probably co-opt him into building the stand and then finishing off the electrics afterwards. Still waiting for them to call out their Volunteer army again .?
  7. Christ you wouldn't want that guy doing your business's accounts. It seems like he's been to the Mark Ashton wildly optimistic school of accountancy there.
  8. All based on true stories Reg, hence the way they resonate with us all.

    U21's

I love the fact that we're willing to play some of the under 18's in these games. Trusting the process, rather than using them as vehicles to get 1st team squad players game time. Only going to help some of the younger players in the long term. So not going to be here next season, either out on loan or permanent.
  10. Christ that brings back some nightmares, and to think we swapped Thompson for Andy May ?
  11. @Carey 6 Got to say Nailsea and Tick have played a blinder here. Their ground is part of the area designated for redevelopment by North Somerset Council. As such the Council would have to compulsory purchase it, and replace it with another ground to the same/higher standard. Cue N&T, developing their old ground at a huge rate, safe in the knowledge that they will get a brand new one, with new facilities costing far more than they have currently invested. Sad to see Ashton & Backwell drop two divisions, as a Clevedon United Committee member, I know all about reaching beyond your means. When we played Toolstation at the Hand Stadium it nearly bankrupted us. We've bought it all in house at Coleridge now, and it's a lot more manageable. Only have to look at Bitton, for an example of unsustainable ambition.
  12. I take it Sing up gas hasn't been to MK Dons if he's using that stadium as an example. As a club they've never filled it. In the end they closed the upper tier to fans, and started even stripping seats from the bottom tier as well. An absolute cluster of a ground, and hardly one to use as an example of a ground to aspire to.
  13. Really good player. Who I would love to see at our club. Always seems to score against us as well. A good balance of solid technique, with pace and power.
  14. Have to agree that he is a liability defensively. I can see Sykes getting the nod in that role for the next couple of games. When you play 4-3-3 with the ball, you need to tuck back in a 4-5-1 without it on transition. Bell has started to do this really well. Unfortunately Cornick without the ball, seems to go a bit headless. The amount of times he was out of position today with either King or James having to help out Tanner on the right was really noticeable. He also just doesn't track his man back particulary well either. He was terrible defensively against Boro with their LWB Ryan Giles. Early days still for him, and I don't knock his workrate; but he does need to improve substantially.
  15. First time I've seen both King, and Vyner on a number of occasions having a right go at Max today. There was something about his demeanour today that didn't inspire confidence in the back line. You could tell the plan he had been told was to get the ball to Naismith asap, but either by wayward throws, passes or general head in the clouds moments, Max failed to recognise on a number of occasions that we just needed to clear our lines. It feels like if Hakin was still here now, he would be in for the last few games, to see what he's like. There's no pressure on Max at the moment, as we're hardly likely to bring Wiles-Richards in. All a bit of a strange season keeper wise for us. Lots of comings and goings, new contracts, and loans abroad. Very little actual progression planning (beyond MOL's new contract)
  16. Best bit for me... "It's still early doors" ??? If you don't own the ground all non-football related income will go to the Owners. Completely unsustainable, this has got Coventry Mk 2 written all over it.
  17. I think the difference for me with this game is how we responded when Boro pulled it back to 2-2. They had the momentum, and were ready to push for a winner. But something in the team clicked, we got our resolve back, and in the end pushed hard for a winner ourselves. That shows to me the difference in the current team, the influence of people like James, and King in the centre; and the determination not to lose a game that could easily have run away from us. I think most people can see that the attitude of this current bunch is a million miles away from the one that NP inherited, and that is something we can hopefully continue to build on for next season.
  18. I think the days of parachute payments per se are coming to an end. There's a growing acceptance that the current situation can't go on as it is, as it's ruining the division. With the new TV deals for the PL & EFL on the horizon, I reckon there will be a more measured financial package for relegated clubs.
  19. One of them is definitely Liam Moore, a complete car crash of a player for them at the moment. I would push the boat out and go for Lucas Joao on the other. Both of them unwilling to move on to other clubs due to the wages they are getting at Reading, and thus will move on frees at the end of their contracts. Like some of our 2019 signings, that really was the golden age of Championship earnings for players. So many clubs can't wait to see the back of those contracts.
  20. Well @CyderInACan has disappeared on 45 mins the last 2 home games for a pee. Both times we have scored within seconds, so his toilet breaks are the new 12 man for the team.
  21. Every game there are people that confuse E31, and E33 with E32; and the constant Mike Reid " Ru, Ru, Runaround " takes place before the start of every game. That allied to the "We don't normally go to live games" brigade. Who stand up when we are attacking, and celebrate every goal scored (before checking that the linesman hasn't already flagged 5 seconds beforehand); leads to somewhat tiring yo yo experience at times....?
  22. ? Thomas and I ST's are in the Dolman (E32). Even though the climb up to row 32 gets a little bit harder, and the leg room just a little bit smaller each season, the delights of listening to @Graham c's abusing of the officials behind me means that the move to the Lower Lansdown has been put off for another season.
  23. For me, Bannan got badly found out in his last championship season with Weds. Teams got tight, and physically dominated him. Not allowing Bannan the time or space to show off his undoubted passing skills. Weds still pursued the plan of using him to dictate their play, which ultimately was one of the factors that led to their relegation in my view. The quality between the Championship to League 1 is vast. You only have to look at Mehmeti's show reel for Wycombe this season to see the difference in quality of the defending from L1 teams. That has allowed Bannan to shine in a team that was already one of the best in the division. It will be a far different proposition if they were to get promoted of course So now, 2 years older, with probably even less speed, mobility and athleticism than he had last time he played at this level, Bannan for me would one again struggle to make an impact in the Championship in 23/24.
  24. Probably a bit like Brownhill before he left. He wasn't at his peak level, and we thought we had got a great deal from Burnley, but boy did we miss him, and that ability to break through the forward line with his runs. Scott has the potential to do that (WBA Cup game), but still doesn't really get in behind like Josh did.
  25. We've been poor in front of goal for 2/3rds of the season now (31 goals in 32 games). Still can't believe that the media/Pearson believe that we have an abundance of options in the forward position. Yes we have the numbers, but not the quality unfortunately.
