  1. Or Pring, Low, or Francois. Amazing turnaround in just a few years. When you look at that article of the 63 players bought by LJ ?. How many of these would have had game time in the first team squad? Good knows where we would have been as a club now without all these academy players, and of course the money raised from Semenyo.
  2. 183 left. Get on those phones quickly if I were you
  3. 430 left. A lot of people are going to be sitting by themselves now. Cue fun and games with people trying it on on the night to sit next to family and friends.
  4. As of 8.45 this morning, 1988 tickets left in home stands. Not sure all the members will end up getting tickets now. Can't see any going on General sale.
  5. Forgot to add that to the list? Just like the changes in formation. I wish i had the time to go through all of the old podcasts to write down these "i've been saying for months" comments that have come to the fore recently.
  6. Interesting mini battle he had with Arrons yesterday. You can definitely see why the top teams passed on Arrons. Good technically, but very little end product. As for Mehmetti, he's definitely one who's going to be fouled repeatedly. Big jump for him up to the Championship, but he has something about him for sure.
  7. On the podcast today Mark mentioned you on terms of confirming that any ban for Scott (10 yellow cards) wouldn't rule him out him out of the Man City game, is that right? I always thought the 2 match ban would encompass cup games, and that was potentially why he was a little subdued yesterday. Weary of getting that ban perhaps?
  8. Thanks to everyone for their kind comments on the FBC podcast. I've got my 17 year old son "Tom" on their now for a bit of added perspective. I think between the pair of us, we're able to trim Ian' wings a bit at times. I've started to pop round to @headhunters office in Clevedon when i can do the pod, as it's more fun to be in the same room; and laugh at Ian's answers at times. Some of the ones from today that made both of us laugh include:- "If you would let me speak, you're always speaking over me" "Nobody was more than 6/10 for me yesterday". God knows what the back 4 have to do. "When i meet Steve Lansdown next week". Fails to mention that it's a senior reds event, with everyone meeting SL. To be fair i met him in person during the tour of the HPC ( many thanks to Neil Palmer there), and he was a jovial chap. @Davefevs i love doing the pods when work/life allows. But i never quite feel the need to go on Twentyman beforehand, and give out opinions knowing that i'll be on the podcast the next day. Hopefully between Me and Tom we are able to give the pod a bit more balance.
  9. Think Dundee Utd had a 20% sell on for Souttar. Decent money for them up in Scotland.
  10. Was thinking exactly the same. In the past, I had to phone them up to merge all the reward points together. I've emailed the club on the link on the rewards scheme page. I'm expecting a reply around summer 2024.?
  11. Just another point around this. Would Barton be allowed to train under 18s? From my understanding of the FA welfare/safeguarding charter he would be unlikely to be given a DBS/CRB clearance to have any involvement with kid's development. Unless of course, the family club that when he was charged with Domestic abuse, whilst on Crown Court bail for another serious assault still refused to suspend him, or put him on any sort of gardening leave whilst the matters where sorted out, doesn't require that sort of thing. I'm not sure what sort of message that sends out to the wider public of the "ethical and Moral" ethos of club.
  12. All fair points @In the Net. I think for me though, the Fruit market potential stadium saga would set alarm bells ringing if i was a Rover's fan. At present, you have the stadium, and adjourning land in Horfield which is worth no doubt a considerable amount. If i've read the proposal correctly. You will give all of these assets to the Fruit Market developer, who will build you a stadium, and then charge you rent to play there? The maths don't add up for me. Lansdown has obviously got planning permission for an area of land to build homes on, and part of this money will go towards the Sportong Quarter development. It was the same principle behind the failed AV stadium (thank you Bristol City Council ?) I don't get why your club doesn't develop the Horfield site yourself, and then build your own stadium, whether at the Fruit Market or elsewhere? It's akin to having a paid off 500k house, and giving it away to a landlord. Who then builds you a 250k house, and charges you rent to live there. Smacks of the Eastville scenario all over again, and where other clubs (Coventry being a good recent example) have fallen foul of 3rd party ownership of their stadium. Why isn't Wael looking to do this new stadium himself, do you think?
  13. Given that Hunter was 45/46 years ago. I'm going to stick to 40 years. Lots of players we've enjoyed over the years (Walshie, Super Bob, Cole, Abrahams). But for me the best actual signing in terms of where it could have potentially taken the club has got to be Webster. £3.5m turned into £20m+ in 1 season, and he smashed all of the stats for the divison that seaspn as well. Of course, in hindsight the money was squandered. But i think he's the best defender i've seen for us since Collier & Hunter, and his partnership with Kalas was great. We still haven't replaced him. Bettet in my eyes that Caulkner as well, but he was also great for us.
  14. I meant with Weimann, if 2-3 weeks turns into 2-3 months. We've been there before.
  15. All good points @LondonBristolian I just feel from an attacking perspective we are a bit lop sided at the moment. With the vast majority of our attacks down the left hand side. Blackburn were well drilled on us last Sat, and when they shut down Pring. That showed up the lack of productivity from the right hand side, it left us a bit devoid until Bell came on and added a bit more impetus. Completely agree with both you @GrahamC over Tanner defensively. When Pring goes, he stays, and provides cover for Vyner & Atkinson. Makes a huge difference as people have said, playing a right back there, rather than someone out of position.
  16. Defensively yes. But I feel a Massengo type conversation for the future there @Davefevs ?
  17. No disrespect to either Tanner, or Sykes. But I think the squad as a whole could definitely improve in those areas. Aside from those 3 goals, I've not been overly impressed with Sykes recently. The Blackburn game being a case in point, and Tanner gets a nosebleed if he goes over the half way line. It'll be interesting to see whether Weimann is available for this weekend (NP's press conference hopefully). It's been 3 weeks, and we've been there before (Kalas, Naismith, James, JD) where these things can get drawn out. If/ when AS goes, I'm sure we have options to bring people in up front. Hopefully a refresh across the squad will put us in a better position to stay up, and push on for the rest of the season.
  18. That for me is the key. The squad as a whole need to improve, not just the forward line. I wonder whether Palace will come in a bit higher now, talksport somewhat forcing their hand. We know this probably came from the Bournemouth end.
  19. Can't help get the feeling that when a player wants to move(refusing to sign a new contract), starts pushing for that move (agreed terms); that the general momentum gathers pace. Regardless of the transfer fee involved Ultimately, we don't know the Semenyo that is going to play tomorrow. Will his head be elsewhere against Blackburn, or will he be able to put all of this behind him for what is a crucial game? I'm reminded of Joe Bryan's last game against Forest, you could tell it was his last game for the club; and he wasn't at the races. Fingers crossed Antoine is able to finish with a flurry.
  20. As a possible starting offer , I don't think £8m is a bad opening gambit. If it was £4-6m, it would indicate that we are a very long way apart in our valuations If they were to raise it to £10m+, then I think serious discussions would probably start. It certainly shows a bit more intent on Bournemouth's part, than words/speculation on Social media. I wouldn't dismiss their interest out of hand. If he is going (and of course he won't sign that new contract). We need to manage this situation, so we don't end up losing him on Jan 29th; and rushing through an emergency replacement. I would say "Many thanks for the offer, not quite there at the moment, but let's stay in touch"
  21. Did he? Was it a proper one, or a half hearted "we have to do something" affair?
  22. Am I right in saying that LC has never had a proper testimonial from the club? I'm sure there was various events to recognise him hitting the record, but no big game. If so, that's some indictment on how the club hierarchy see him Christ I still remember going away to York City for his debut (1-0 win Kevin Nugent, I think).
  23. Probably suits all parties then.?
  24. Was awful from the Dolman, weak and non comitted challenges from both of them. Very disappointing in the context of a fairly decent first half. Naismith also has an annoying habit of misplaced passing whilst under no pressure. It didn't cost us yesterday thankfully, and now he is front of the back two CB, hopefully it won't be as terminal as some of his earlier mistakes, it's just a lack of concentration. We still look a better team with him in it of course.
