New over-35s World Cup is being held in England this summer with some absolute legends taking part

Some of football's all-time greats are set to take part in an over-35s World Cup tournament in England this summer, with Ronaldinho, Thierry Henry and Kaka being lined up to feature.

At the start of June, an eight-team tournament involving England, Argentina, Brazil, France, Spain, Germany, Italy and Uruguay will be organised by the Elite Players Group, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The EPG, a group of former footballers and sports businessmen, have come together to create the EPG Cup – and the founders are set to feature in these star-studded games.

In fact, the founders will captain each country, with Steve McManaman leading an England team that have enlisted Michael Owen, Ashley Cole, Joe Cole, Rio Ferdinand, David James, Frank Lampard and Robbie Fowler.

The other captains include: Esteban Cambiasso (Argentina), Emerson (Brazil), Christian Karembeu (France), Kevin Kuranyi (Germany), Marco Materazzi (Italy), Michel Salgado (Spain) and Diego Lugano (Uruguay).

The games will certainly differ from the much-loved Masters Football format. They will be 11-a-side over a 70 minute period, with teams being able to use roll-on substitutes to make use of their 18-man squads.

So when and where? The venue is still being finalised, according to the Daily Mail, but talks have already taken place with 'some of the Premier League’s biggest northern clubs.'

The quarter-finals are scheduled to be played on June 4 and June 5, with both semi-finals on June 8 before the final on June 11.

The walk through Greville Smyth is interesting in the dark though.

I run through there fairly regularly - the state of the paths are really poor. I thought part of the AG redevelopment was that City had to make good and maintain those paths. But I guess not!

Me too...prefer it to Pasture. Equal quality steak if not better imo, and nicer ambience.

Also like to go to this place that's a sister company for after dinner drinks.

I often end up like Rowley Birkin after a few Negronis. 😆

Yeah done both quite a few times. Decent places. I think they used to have Pata Negra on Corn St too but think that closed a while ago

  4. Went with 'er indoors at the weekend. Train up& back. Stayed in Stratford. Gig friday night. Saturday at leisure. Absolutely bloody loved it. Drinks & Food not outrageously priced and the venue was very clean & didn't feel too claustrophobic as some places can.

I would go back in a heartbeat. Absolutely recommended.

Feel sorry for The Orchard pub.

With the bridge being closed and now this bus gate fiasco it must be harming trade for them.

The turning for the Orchard/SS Great Britain is before the bus gate so you can still drive to the Orchard

From BCC : The bus gate will be installed immediately to the east of Gas Ferry Road, so cars can travel eastbound on Cumberland Road up to this point, which also means access by road to the SS Great Britain will be retained from both directions

Cumberland Road stabilisation and bus gate update (bristol.gov.uk)

Went for Sunday lunch 3 weeks ago, was ok nothing spectacular. £26.00 for the beef and cauliflower cheese was a extra £6.00.

Yesterday tried the Ox for Sunday lunch, been a few times for evening meals but this was the first time for lunch. Would highly recommend £22.00 for the beef which included cauli cheese, leeks and greens and red cabbage, luckily we didn't order any extra sides as was plenty.

Maybe not as good as Pasture etc but no need to book months in advance, didn't book till Thursday and their was plenty of tables available.

Always found the Ox very reliable. Lovely & atmospheric down there too.

Just had a bit of a look on the BS3live website. There is a heck of a lot of availability….

Until they announce the remaining acts, they ain't selling many more tickets. What's announced so far is a bit underwhelming. Needs the next tranche of acts to be something a bit different and more relevant.

I must admit that I have never heard this before, a friend of mine shared it on Facebook this morning

I imagine those who supported the club back in the 1980s will have many memories stirred by this

I had it! This has absolutely made my day. Thankyou so much for posting this. COYR

  9. Capacity crown in BS3 under the lights - the Gate should be bouncing, I just hope we don't concede an early goal and it goes flat. Alternatively an early goal for us would get our tails up and who knows what could happen from thereon in!

Let's show everyone what we're about. Big night too for the pubs of BS3, don't forget! And those with parking spaces rented out ha ha
