Top half at Christmas he should be ok, although personally I think he’s had more than long enough and there are some outstanding talents available who would be half his rumoured cost.

He's not that long into a 7-year contract though, isn't he?

And this is where Jon’s words will be tested.
He quite clearly said that Pearson was sacked because they were expecting this to be a squad capable of promotion (that’s the aim). He then quite clearly, crystal clearly, said that we have to make the change now otherwise what’s the point of bumbling along this season.

    1) He felt this squad was capable of promotion.
    2) Nige wasn’t gonna get this squad promoted.
    3) if we don’t change it now we’ll bumble along.
    4) If we do change it now, this squad is capable of promotion.

You also have to caveat this with the fact that Jon is a cufking idiot.

They're filming around Bristol  for a programme called 'Surviving Earth', they were filming at Barista Coffee shop today and a supermarket tomorrow.

I know this as my wife has recently taken over the Seven Stars pub and they were using it as a green room this morning.

The seven stars next to the fleece?

The Supporters Club & Trust don’t usually comment on managerial changes as we don’t have enough knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes and because it is a subject that usually divides opinion like no other. However, on this occasion the SC&T board, and it seems the vast majority of the fanbase, are agreed that sacking Nigel Pearson appears to be an incredibly harsh decision, whether or not it was based, as the club statement and quote from Jon Lansdown suggest, purely on football results.

Never before have we had a manager who has been so fundamentally instrumental in positively changing the mentality, the culture, and the togetherness of the whole football club across men’s and women’s football. And Nigel did this while operating under huge financial constraints. His intervention to ensure that the end-of-season awards dinner was inclusive of supporter-led awards was evidence of his unifying influence at our club. As was the cultural leadership Pearson embodied in relation to the recognition and respect for the women’s game.

So, the sacking of Nigel Pearson begs many questions for us.

What is the real reason? It is clearly not just about recent results. We’ve had worse runs. We have a huge number of injuries and are giving academy players debuts most weeks. Winning football matches in a very competitive Championship is difficult, even with a full squad.

Are we clearing the decks for new investors to come in? A wholesale clear out of a CEO and manager might suggest that.

Is Nigel Pearson too outspoken? He has been transparent about his feelings and just maybe this has finally broken an already strained relationship with the owners.

Questions like these arise when there is a lack of meaningful engagement and transparent communication from the custodians of our football club. There were times in the past when Steve Lansdown in particular would be visible, approachable, and responsive, whether that be behind the scenes, in media interviews, or even doing Q&As in the backrooms of pubs on away days. However, since the departure of Richard Gould, such communication has been sadly lacking.

We therefore again ask the club executives and owners for more transparency and improved supporter engagement going forwards, starting with greater clarity and context around the reason for Nigel Pearson’s sacking.

We thank Nigel, Jason Euell & Dave Rennie for their contribution to the Club, and wish Curtis Fleming, Ali Hines & Kalifa Cisse every success in this interim period.

Well done. Exactly the sort of thing they really really don't like though. Planet Lansdown will be in lockdown for a while now.

We have lost so much more than a very good and influential manager. With the additional loss of medical and coaching staff, this rips the heart out of the whole operation that has so painstakingly been put together. Two years or more of work wilfully thrown away. It’s incredibly wasteful and destructive. I don’t think they have any idea of the extent of the damage done to the organisation they’re supposed to be looking after. It’s incredibly demoralising to witness.

Quite. An act of such grievous self-harm that could easily define the next "era" of the Lansdown's temporary stewardship of our club.

Ha no danger of captain crayon applying that level of 4d chess to the recruitment process.

❤️ that description. Someone needs to use it on Sound of the City tonight. Then refer to Steve Lansdown as Captain Crayon's dad. It the small things that get you through.

I refer to him as the Crayola Kid.

It might well be financial madness at Championship level but no way that a Prem club goes bust the way 2 rugby ones recently have.

3 Prem clubs - Worcester, Wasps & Irish. Plus Jersey Reds from the Championship in the last week too.

I really feel for those that are still there from last season, as they put in some real graft, effort and commitment to win the league but in my opinion have yet again been massively let down by the lack of any useful investment

I thought after that win v. Charlton, that money would be spent on a better calibre of player to enhance the squad that got promoted. Just seems that all that effort will be wasted if they just go straight back down. The sums involved for decent players must be piffling compared to the men's game. A shame.

What are the views on here about this development going forward. I can't see it happening purely on the basis I have no confidence in our council or court system. Such a shame! Bristol basketball will be gone within 5 years. Most BBL sides will have their own arenas by then which generates extra revenue the flyers can't. Sheffield sharks predict their revenue will increase between 40-60% when they're in their new home. We're stuck with a school gym with no capacity.

Seems to me that ETM's vexatious potential de-railing of the SQ is doomed to fail. Whether that automatically assumes that the development goes ahead is moot.

It seems clear that what could be a potentially vital shot in the arm for South Bristol in terms of employment could be equally doomed unless a swift resolution is reached. And it would be obvious where the blame for that would lie.

I remember a game where Jim Brennan came on and we went from 2-3 down to win 5-3. I can remember he changed the game but not whether it was with goals or assists.

Maybe Blackpool? He'd only touched down after international duty with Canada a few hours before the game too!
