And we have still to see how the new TV deal will play out.

    Shocking decision by the club.

I know, that was my reply to a Cov fan….why not try the ticket exchange next season as a trial, gather your data, assess the impacts of the tv deal, then evolve from there the season after.

Does anyone know if we put one year options in as standard with young professional contracts? It feels to me like instinctively the thing to do but there may be reasons it isn't a good idea (or practical or possible) to do so.

Pure guesswork on these players - no.

Why?  Because of compo schemes. But as soon as they start playing first team then is when we might start thinking more seriously about things like that.

    @Lrrr thoughts?

    Just saw!

It is a little disingenuous to say “Man who developed player into £25m asset and wasn’t given funds to replace him was hurt less by his departure than his successor, who had a replacement funded” - particularly when you saw the germs of the plan that pre season!

    Indeed….

Not necessarily. The balloon fiesta has dropped the Thursday so with Sky showing every game from the 1st round of fixtures, it could be possible for us to be at home on the Thursday.

Believe opening weekend will be 2 fixtures Friday night, 8 Saturday (not necessarily 3pm, but might retain that slot) and 2 on Sunday.

Glad to see the 2 things that I can do well and have trained for I.e. medicine and interpreting data, are so poorly regarded by football clubs in terms of how well (or rather not) they are paid. The reality is that if you want the best qualified, most experienced people for roles like this, then offering just above minimum wage is not going to work, especially when anyone can see how much the players are paid by comparison - i.e more per month than the club are willing to offer you annually. Bit insulting really - pay peanuts, get monkeys. I am sure that SL paid his actuaries at Hargreaves Lansdown very well as they are the ones who can interpret the data and help make the investment decisions. Why skimp at BCFC? Shortsighted!

This was an early player viz from 1st Team Intern analyst F.Nightingale, before she took her first paid job in Healthcare, after she fell out of love with footie.

    I may have missed this one @Davefevs @chinapig @Hxj  @ExiledAjax

Dunno how I feel about this one. Quite a few clubs have started spending a bit again so this seems to reward said expenditure. We cut back and showed restraint quite brutally, surely we didn't vote for this. Seemingly linked to operational and staff costs.

Now appears without having read the article in depth to be £41.5m Upper Loss limit in 3 years.

    Also @downendcity

Given them £2.5m per year in Tv deal (£7.5m over 3 years) and give them another £2.5m allowance too…£10m in total in effect.

I known Man Utd’s head scout for the south west and south wales ‘ he’s on minimum wage plus expenses’ sounds glamorous but the hrs are shit and most of the lads he’s recommended utd haven’t even bothered to have a look at .

Yep, I’m pretty sure I know who you’re on about.

I honestly don’t know why anyone would work in one of those roles in football. Or indeed any ops/media role in football, full time.

The pay is absolutely horrendous, the hours are very unsociable, and you’re near enough working every day of the week. If you whittled down the terrible pay into hours actually worked, I wouldn’t bet against it being below living wage.

    Don’t forget…

    • Breakfast & lunch on all training days via a personal contribution scheme
    • Discount in the Bristol Sport store

19 !!!!! That's nuts, can't remember him being a penalty taker, that would of been Denis Irein at the time

Yep, he was a pen taker….i based by pens on his style.  Place the ball, decide where I’m putting it, walk back facing away from the keeper, turn, run, shoot, no stopping first.
