How anyone cannot see us finishing 11th best team in the league and 62 points as an improvement is baffling.

It is an improvement on last season.

The question is whether it’s an improvement on expectation, the hierarchy’s expectation and us fans’ expectations!  I’d say it’s closer to most fans expectations, but below the hierarchy’s.  It is normally the other way around.

To protect the integrity of the Premier League.

Don't think of it as an 18 team league but a 24 team league.

When clubs are relegated they should be able to keep their better players, so that when promoted they remain competitive ( which is basically Forest's argument for spending big over the past 2 years).

It's all about maintaining the PL as the leading brand worldwide.

Often said the same, it’s a 24 team league, where they let 20 play each season.

What I can't fathom, is the way his tenure here is looked back on by so many (mainly on here, in fairness)

Because we were in an almighty mess, and he (along with RG) saved us.

I can’t believe this still needs to be said.

Part of me questions whether Pearson was that interested in the whole recruitment side of things - he always mentioned about not dealing with agents - I wonder whether he is this hands off types (not saying he is, I have no idea).

Very interested is the answer….he put the strategy and processes / profiles in place (with RG) for starters.  He is a big reason recruitment has improved over the past 2.5 years.

He is a manager though, an observer, not a doer, he empowers people (like Gilhespy said), etc.

Tinnion - absolute disaster who should never have been given the job & left with most people pitying him for the blight on his CV & impact on legendary status at the club....

    MP - 61

    W - 22

    D - 22

    L - 17

    Win % - 36.07%

    PPG - 1.44

Pearson - one of the best managers we've had - the big name that many had craved, who was outrageously replaced with some people still fawning over his departure now.....

    MP - 131

    W - 42

    D - 31

    L - 58

    Win % - 32.1%

    PPG - 1.2

    Well that's a little awkward..!

    Maaaaaaaate, c’mon. 🤣

    Funnily enough I did that.!

Transfermarket didn't list anything on the page it gave me & I wasn't that fussed about looking around for it.

It just made me wonder how their stats might compare - seeing as there is some weird love in with NP, from some, yet Tinnions reign was a complete disaster.

I did just that and brought up the results.

FWIW I didn’t need to check to know that Tins PPG will be better than Nige’s PPG, so I stopped.

I was gonna ramble on, but I think I think there was different expectations on Tinnion upon appointment, ie to get us promoted, than Nige, which was more to do with keeping us out of FFP trouble and in the Championship.  So comparing PPG is futile.  What you should be doing is comparing Tinnion against expectation, not to anyone else.  Fwiw that era I was in the city wilderness, so you’ll have to elaborate on whether you thought Tins did well against expectations.

The big ones are Conway and Williams for me. They will understandably in no rush, waiting to see what offers they get, specially TC. That puts us at a disadvantage as to how long we wait, something that Manning eluded to .

With luck these will have an idea where they want to be next season, and we can push for decisions.
The incomings are easier to target and we can contact Clubs. It would be good if we can get all the business done in time for Pre-season .
    Not always straight forward .

I’d add Pring to TC and JW.

It would be quite interesting to see Brian Tinnions managerial stats here - which were generally regarded as a disaster - compared to Nigel Pearsons.

Of course, they both managed us in different divisions, but then our squad would have been equivalently different.

I don't know how they'd actually stack up as Tinnions stats don't seem to be easily found - but I know for a fact that Pearsons were underwhelming.

You could try Google - Bristol space city space manager space stats enter

How joined up are the key people I wonder?

Tinnion wants an aggressive front foot style, Manning seems to prefer 'control '.

It's been made clear we don't intend to spend lots this summer but Manning wants more, being particularly desperate to sign Twine.

It'll be interesting to see how it pans out.

@Exiled Robin ran a twitter spaces this morning.  My point was our squad next season is gonna be a bit of an unknown until 1) we get to see retained list (end of this week hopefully according to TR and LM), then 2) hiw we deal with ins and outs.

  10. As per Tom Rawcliffe interview on @3 Peaps In A PodCast this morning:

FFP reported at BCFC Holdings level (BCFC plus AG)

Might be internal recharging, but everything like hospitality goes into FFP / P&S, inc concerts.

Wants fans to think of football and stadium as one club

3k for women to break even at AG. (I’m guessing that’s just running the ground for a game)

    Don’t have a break-even point for men’s.

No plans / priorities to renovate / expand Atyeo.

And some other stuff we knew re add-backs, inc covid ones.

Mentioned that LM said “we need to be ambitious”, so wants money, but we’ll be sensible within budgets.  Have loads of FFP headroom.

  11. Update from Tom Rawcliffe on @3 Peaps In A PodCast this morning:

“Just shy of thirteen and a half thousand now, and at this stage you’d normally be between 90 and 95 percent of your sales, and I’m hoping that by the time the season ticks round we will be around the fourteen thousand mark, which is really good for us as a club”.

Other thing, which we all knew anyone, all clubs report tickets sold (not people in the ground).

South Stand is 98% season tickets, last season, but that wasn’t 98% full.

I would say you are one of the most respected contributors to this forum Fevs. Your opinions are well balanced and backed up with detailed analysis, unlike a lot of the emotional knee jerk reactions (mine included at times!) or agendas that some have on here.

The fact that Tinnion has blocked you and the Exiled Robin is pretty damning for him. You can understand him blocking people who are being personally abusive but blocking two contributors who are fair and balanced with their opinions is really poor.

Thanks for your kind words.  Just a small part of a great forum / community.

All good Dave, very comprehensive, but perhaps different from an at a glance match by match rolling update concentrating just on those currently injured which I'd also like to see in Gav's pre match info.

Yep, can filter by those currently injured.

Speaking of being blocked on X, anyone else here found themselves blocked by SL despite having never interacted with him on there?

Not blocked by SL, and JL actually follows me…and I’ve been critical of both on X.

Tins blocking was surprising (to me anyway)…but as for Exiled Robin, I find astonishing.

Whilst reading the crassness of Tinnion’s post was as disappointing as it was inflammatory, it’s good to see so many comments on this thread seeing him for what he now is.

He was a brilliant player, clearly, legendary status by the time he finished playing. He’s also done a good job in terms of the academy. Everything else however is a complete disrespectful shit show situation of his own making.

If he’s lost the likes of @Davefevs and the Exiled Robin then this is only going to end very badly.

Apart from it being questionable the timing of it after a 4 - 0 final day defeat is just astounding and provides yet more evidence that he and Lansdown are tone deaf to how many, many fans feel.

I don’t even see Manning as part of the problem; in fact some of his recent comments challenging them could actually put him in a favourable position with the fans. Maybe he’s seen it for what it is as well.

The sooner they are gone the better.

I think you might overplay any influence you think my tweets have!  Just a fan with an opinion, hopefully an objective, balanced opinion.

Tommy’s goals did get us points, especially the number of penalties we were awarded as soon as Nige was dispensed with and our anti-Pearson embargo on penalties was lifted by the referees association. But from open play, we really lacked Scott the playmaker to set things up for Conway or Wells. Twine is a shadow of that but clearly a Manning favourite and might just get a few more goals than Scott. Overall 11th seems about right, especially as until yesterday Max and the defence had been at a playoff levels of performance and goals conceded.

I wasn’t far off was I re Tommy getting us points.  Didn’t expect it to be from the spot though, neither did they need to be stonewallers either.

Like the updated injury list each match Gav but it would be interesting where possible to add the date of the original injury next to each name to see just how long each player has been out of the matchday squad for, i.e. Rob Atkinson, 18/2/23. Also a running total of first team games unavailable for due to that injury or a secondary setback perhaps?

    I can provide that:

    image.thumb.png.633898106850c19bb652d73686d33b57.png

    image.thumb.png.453bcd5cc9d57a6bf7ede877a3ca1111.png

Based on injuries reported by club, not rumours.

I introduced a “match fitness” category for those players who were playing u21s games as part of their rehab.
