  1. Roger Bennett. Now there was a superb broadcaster. Not bad on the soprano sax either with his Blue Notes Jazz Band.
  2. BBC News - Lee Sun-kyun: Parasite actor found dead at 48 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-67825665
  3. BBC News - Ian Pepperell: Actor best known for playing Roy Tucker in The Archers dies https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-67812307
  4. Prove it!! Thanks Dave for all your excellent, insightful postings in 2023.
  5. Thanks John for posting who was at the meeting player -wise. Next time you see Sir Alan Walsh please ask to borrow his son-in-law's latest Dvd series of Frasier as I don't subscribe to Paramount+!
  6. Afraid not. Doesn't always work like that. There are a set number of red button games. If Sky don't choose it, it's not on. The good news is that it is definitely on Robins TV for £10. Watford away looks very unlikely as a red button game so Robins TV should enjoy receiving my tenner. The basic rule of thumb for UK Robins TV is that if it isn't a 3pm Saturday game or a kick off between 3 to 5pm on that day, Robins TV can make it available. Away games are the same but at the discretion of the home club (outside the 3-5pm Saturday window).
  7. Who was the presenter and City fan?
  8. BBC News - D-Day: Irish woman whose forecast helped save Normandy invasion dies - BBC News https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/czkjr34r2zzo For those that are interested about all things WW2. A story worth telling and there is a 1 hour documentary film that crops up every so often on PBS America (originally BBC) about this lady and what happened.
  9. Peter Gabriel's best selling album featuring Sledgehammer is called .... sorry I can't print those 2 letters as it might annoy!
  10. That's nothing. Wait till you drive here in Norn Iron. The road ahead in 3 miles ends with a roundabout BUT they will stay in the outside lane just so they can be ready for this lane to turn into a right hand one. What's more they will go at 50 moh in the outside which means Johnny 18 year old petrol head will demonstrate how great he is at undertaking at great speed. I'm only just warming up on this rant....
  11. Not a patch on the original by Bessie Banks which had raw emotion.
  12. Hi TV Tom, I do know who you mean. And it was a bit of a dilemma but Nest Egg put it succinctly. Norman Hunter follows the rule, however in brackets I will add (Sir Gerry Gow). Whilst I had seen an occasional City match prior to the 1977/78 season, I didn't actually start supporting City until then. Consequently, using my rule Sir Gerry doesn't qualify. Please tell me we are talking about the sane player.
  13. Yes to all of the above. I have just started a thread as per BristolRob's suggestion.
  14. Thanks to BristolRob for the suggestion and Slartibartfast who started the original thread because he suggested John Galley as the best ever City player. Who is the best player you have seen in a City shirt per decade? The only qualifying rule is that the player concerned helped the team to achieve or saved us from relegation. Whilst Jacki was probably the best player I have ever seen in a City shirt, I don't think he qualifies because of the above rule. 70s Norman Hunter 80s Sir Alan Walsh 90s Super Bob Taylor 00 Adriano Basso 10s mmmm 20s mmmm
  15. Yes. Working at last. Pathetic by streaming company/bcfc media. Why oh why do we have to contact them St last once a month? The number of times I've offered help to at least say there's no signal prior to ko. They obviously know better.
  16. Just written again to them. Let's see what happens.
  17. I can't get an audio feed on Laptop or phone. Anyone else experiencing difficulties?
  18. BBC News - Ryan O'Neal: Oscar-nominated actor dead at 82 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-67667166
  19. I had thought of Adam Webster especially as he was like finding an abstract painting at a second hand shop only to flog it a year later because it was a Picasso! How could I forget Adriano Basso? He would be my pick for the 00s. Great shout.
  20. Tough call Slarti as to best signing ever. Certainly best signing ever for this week in previous years! Maybe King John was best ever signing for the 60s especially if you use your reasoning re saving the team. In which case... 70s Norman Hunter 80s Sir Alan Walsh 90s Sir Bob Taylor 00s mmmm 10s mmmm
