  1. Agreed, but scott might not see it that way, or he might just find it harder coming on as a sub and picking up the flow of the game?
  2. Pearsons i dont care who they are could only really have been aimed at scott? its the first time in the last 2 seasons he hasnt been an automatic starter, and he might not enjoy being benched?!
  3. No we shouldnt be looking for players who arent good enough to where we are aiming, assuming thats supposed to be top 6, clearly the 2 aren’t mutually exclusive… obviously you arent suggesting you only have a choice of either a top 6 championship player or you choose a more physical type? last sunmer we signed sykes, wilson, bajic and naismith, along with mehmeti haikin and cornick in the winter, Maybe i forgot one or 2, but none of them are really known or have shown they specialise in a physical battle like adebola or flint have they? So what did we expect to happen when we went to luton, cardiff or birmingham? Semenyo had to be sold, then we paid martin to go and signed cornick. To be honest, we all know we arent really going to be signing players who are top 6 championship players anyway, but a big bastard centre back in the style of flint would certainly have a place in our squad.
  4. Cool, unless something drastic happens he will get the chance for several new signings, hopefully! The dates are a little sketchy to me,, but by paying off klose and martin to leave we basically were going to have to rely on kalas staying fit for the rest of season to give us defensive cover… there was clearly a chance something could go wrong with that,, and atkinson got injured, that’s football and thats what happens, every club has them.. thank god vyner stayed fit. i think hes had the chance to bring in more physical players, but hasnt done it.. we bought in a keeper who never played to replace a keeper we still own who never plays to challenge a keeper who isnt dominant while we can be dominated by anyone with a couple of big strong mobile strikers!
  5. Yes.. whats your view on how much we can spend this summer dave, assuming scott does go for say 25m?
  6. It has, but still, things like saturday keep happening, the jaio header against reading too, max was stood on his line watching that happen around him! ok re wage bill, especially as we still have one or 2 still taking a disproportionate amount of it, but if we are competitive in our pay at some point we should be equitable with our performance… what lansdown must think when we announce our losses and some of the absolute embarrassments has had to make rich while contributing nothing,, well we can only guess…
  7. Its clearly obvious that against certain teams we cant compete physically.. having someone who can carry some fight to the opposition gives them something different to worry about… that doesnt mean they cant be quick too,, if we had adebajo playing for us instead of luton the the ebbs and flows of that game could have been very different.
  8. Results have picked up, but we are still clearly hugely inconsistent and we still cant defend to save our lives which you would think could have been addressed in the last 2 years, see watfords goals at the weekend. also, playing with quick mobile strikers is all very good and exciting but you need some steel and power to back it up, which isnt something that the club is fussed about sorting out… when nige does his chuckle and says our opponents are bigger than us,, no one thinks to ask why we dont sort it out… going to luton away was always going to be a question of how many they were going to beat us by… yes salary levels have been reduced, but pretty much every club in the championship has done this, we are still about tenth as far as i know, but have been underperforming this level for years,, and as we know teams financed at a similar or lower level have done better. the position has stabilised though, we are what we are. having a new star youth player, plus 2 other real high class youth strikers come through in the last 2 years is a massive help. Getting rid of people like watkins and odowda also helps, we now need kalas and dasilva off the books to help the finances, and then it depends who nige brings in… a decent keeper plus centre backs and centre midfielders is obvious, anymore like cornick and bajic and we might as well not bother!
  9. Thats fine, if we want to try to achieve another mid table finish,, anything higher would need a miracle/ 50 million quid warchest to try to bring in some top championship players to compliment scott and conway… as thats not going to happen, then might as well stick with what we know so at least we dont go down!
  10. Kelleher?? Really good, think hes lower premier level? how about brice samba, the ex forest keeper, currently at lens..
  11. I would consider karl darlow to be a top end championship keeper who is out on loan so potentially available? Whether hed come and whether wages are doable is another matter? Undoubtedly an upgrade though!
  12. Dear lord! This is why anyone on here reserves the right to be critical of the team/ manager/ players/ board of bristol city,,, anyone who is still here after decades of watching us balls it up has earned the right to be fed up with it all!
  13. You would think that with mehmeti signing, owura will be moved on at some point. Hopefully he goes on to a decent career
  14. Why are clubs limiting away allocations at the moment? How many tickets did we get for watford?? Their away end is a decent enough size if they let people pay on the day they might get a few more turn up?
  15. Bearing in mind dortmunds record of buying in young players, including bellingham from the championship, id be surprised if they didnt know every member of that england youth team? Id like to see scott go there too!
  16. Would be great if he wins it!
  17. It’s so tight at the bottom that surely a win or 2 could save them?
  18. Have to agree, clearly has a nice touch, but gets beaten in the air, has no goal threat and costs too much. Another poor purchase who needs to be off the wage bill!
  19. You really are in love with him arent you? anyway, great stuff, and unexpected
  20. Yeah how much have we spent paying him off and bringing cornick in? Can anyone tell me who we have got who likes winning headers and likes a battle?
  21. Im inclined to agree, obviously bell and conway have played together for years, so giving them a game in the first team might be interesting to see how they get on though. With conways finishing though, you would think that mehmeti creating chances would be a no brainer
  22. My other half is a stokie too… like the friend mentioned in the original post, im expecting a good hiding today for us…. as for the stoke is a shit hole stuff, yes it has rough parts, but id swap the wEdgwood estate and trentham estate for southmead any day!
  23. Never been to home park but i always envision tommy tynan scoring against us when i think of plymouth,, a devon david kelly!
