  1. This actually looks like a competitive game since they lost a player but the stats say they are still on top.
  2. I assume at the moment that it is modelled on modern day Hadrian's wall.
  3. I would say even that Backinson lacked a little street smarts, it was a good trip but he knew he was going to get a yellow so could have gone in much stronger and taken a chunk rather than just throwing a foot in a tripping the player.
  4. Or the stress of trying to steer our club through financial turmoil.
  5. To be honest - it can be a bit closer to Bristol than Hull is!
  6. Hmm... I've been critical of SL for things we can be critical of since he has been chairman and owner - you don't need to make stuff up. His dilution of shares where he has been issuing new ones and buying them to take full control of the club to cover debts he has been responsible for creating is my biggest issue. His it's my money and my club and I will do what I want attitude (with the first point in mind). His appointment of Tinnion, Millen with zero experience, his inability to learn from these mistakes. His loyalty to pretty much all managers when it is clearly gone stale. A saying SL should be used to is "it's better to walk when people ask why rather than when people say why not" I would make this case for most managers he has employeed about 2 years before he has finally got rid of them. That being said balance is what is needed in any criticism and IMO SL comes out about even which from his personal perspective must be embarrassing because if I had spent £150m+ to come out even I would be severely frustrated and wondering if it was me as the one factor that's been consistent along this period of time.
  7. He has stated that he thought it was too early for LJ in his management career but was convinced by LJ eventually, hardly sounds like an ego trip. He didn't name the stand, he actually said something along the lines of if someone names a stand after me I will fire them. It was a board decision - a board he no longer sits on. Other than getting basic facts wrong your post makes quite a bit of sense.

    January..

If we sign 1 more than we get rid of I will be surprised (maybe a loan). I can't imagine we will be paying for anyone. If we offload COD or Palmer I will be very surprised - both are on good contracts that they wouldn't get anywhere else. The only saleable asset that's worth more to someone else than to us is HNM, if he goes then we would need to spend that money very very well on players that are at a great price, play in the positions we need filled, can compete in the championship, young and have good resale value. Basically perfect players - so good luck with that.
  9. It's all virtue signalling and window dressing, they don't really care about equality they just don't want to be accused of being discriminatory. That subject needs wider debate because everything is discriminatory - picking the best candidate for a job, picking which jobs to apply for, choosing sexual partners, picking an ice cream. If they speak out about China or Russia then those countries just stop them from being able to sell there and as they are multi billion dollar markets and there ability to be able to pay for the next premier league contact hinges on how much money they can make they aren't going to speak out because it will cost them there job and reputation. And there is the truth, they care about social issues as long as it is limited to internal policy they can inflict upon staff and never at the expense of the execs jobs.
  10. I'm fairly sure if someone could guarantee Bristol city could replicate Man U success in the 90s but he had to spent a billion on it he wouldn't think twice about the money.
  11. He almost certainly wants a legacy - he wants to be remembered fondly far and wide long after he has passed. At the moment his legacy is going to be for HL so not exactly far and wide and no one in investment banking gets remembered fondly by the general public. While he has a fairly good reputation with fans for his role in funding the stadium redevelopment and training ground, at the moment City is probably a stain on his legacy as the stated goal is prem football, the stadium and training ground are infrastructure to support that not "that" in itself - having his name on the big stand that's not in the prem is a bit like having a personalised numberplate on a 1990s ford Mondeo when your trying to present a Lamborghini image.
  12. The problem isn't keeping our best players - they all got better offers than we could make except Smith who had been injured for 2 seasons. The problem is replacing them with average league 1 players and players that prem teams are desperate to offload for over inflated prices. So under all circumstances - those players would now all be elsewhere.
  13. Pushing Zak to midfield would solve having a player there that can defend, we then need someone who can run/organise our midfield which we wouldn't have, so would once again get cut through like butter.
  14. Yeah, Saturday he said the performance wasn't great but the result was more important. I wonder if that's given a little license in the players heads to not necessarily have to put the performance in, it would be very unprofessional but that is what we are seeing.
  15. So what you're basically saying is we have a real championship squad of 13 maybe 14, 2 of which are GK.
  16. Not just a criticism I have of him alone but from what I have observed he just doesn't seem up for a battle - I can't remember him ever putting in a memorable tackle, whenever I have seen him on the right he always seem to give way too much space to a crosser and his distribution is only slightly better than rest of our defence which still a long way off the required standard.

I can now see why some are so confused or more upset than they should be ?.

  19. We're just not physical enough everywhere else on the pitch infront of the defence, every team seems to do a little bit off the ball consistently - we seem to do next to nothing letting runners move with freedom. I'm only aware of Williams that I've seen hammer players off the ball before they become a problem.
  20. Similar but younger, I've been told by the physio that due to having a desk job I sit down way too much and need to stand (and more importantly move around) whenever possible.
  21. I found it funny when the unenthusiastic participation in the EE (I think it was the Bournemouth game) was about 25% and they booed themselves.
  22. I bet there is something that would link it to fluid dynamics especially turbulent flow, that's essentially what it is, a melting pot of songs where some drown out others. I've stood just behind the S82 lads quite a bit so far, they start a lot of songs that don't get outside there "group". If you think about it it's very democratic, if you can hear more than 1 song sing the one you want, if everyone agrees by singing the same song then it gets loud/popular. It's messy and has its worts but works eventually. Just keep going.
  23. As someone relatively new to the "new" EE having moved there this season it's quite an interesting place and not what it seems from the outside. There's no shouting down of others chants, you can't hear any of them TBH - there seems to be about 5 different places songs start from in the corner and at any one time the EE might have 3 different songs going at the same time, it's really only the drum or megaphone that brings it all together. If your outside you would only hear the ones that get to 3 or more of these smaller groups. I don't think anyone in there thinks of themselves as superfan, that would be something others project on to them because they are the noisy singers, from what I have seen they mostly like having fun, want to create/enjoy the atmosphere and want to enjoy the football (mostly in that order). Booing other parts of the ground is stupid but it's very much part of the type of humour I think - tongue in cheek, self depreciation, gallows humour much like the "how shit must you be" song but in the context of the order of preference of fun, atmosphere then football it kind of makes sense if a bit counter productive, same as the same Joey Barton songs 5 mins into the game. Having moved there from the middle of the SS I certainly prefer it to having some obnoxious moaning old bloke sat behind me that thought he was the next next Andy Gray but knew **** all about football. Despite the results this season I have always walked away having enjoyed myself more if also a little horse.

Forget 2 up, if they had gone in at half time at 0-1 the place would have erupted. Let's face facts for at least 35 mins of the first half we weren't in a game against the worse side in the league. We actually seemed to give them the belief they could win the game on a platter, they are a league 1 side and we looked non league for a lot of that game.
