  1. Not FFP related but fancy a football club for £1? Well Huddersfield Town appear to be up for sale for this! (Granted debt etc would be included).. One to watch?
  2. This is a balanced asessment. I am hoping that as we go through the financial rebuild, we will move into a position where we can more easily resist these types of offers. Yes I know the PL is very difficult to resist or certain European clubs for that matter but even if this is the case, the value must be maximised-- moving forward I believe that we'll be in a paoiton to do this, or keep our best players for longer if this not met. Unsure about Leeds, think they are and have been a bigger club than us throughout the bulk of their history. Scott is contracted until 2025 and we are seeking to tie him down for longer- but hopefully if he goes in the summer he will be the last for some time and we will maximise his value. Cornick I see as a useful replacement tactically albeit not one with such a high ceiling as Semenyo.
  3. You have a certain level of validity in your argument on one level but it doesn't fully reflect the reality of the situation. Cornick would be a useful replacement should we get him, maybe we can sign a PL loanee or 2 as well cost permitting. Plus we aren't going down. We'll get someone in and injuries seem to be on our side finally. Kalas and Weimann not far away, shame about Wilson, Benarous and Conway of course.
  4. Could yeah. Would be interesting to see how it goes, what would we do in Luton's position I wonder. 6 months left, chasing playoffs- okay financial position, Cornick not been so productive this year but impressive before that. What would we do...or would we back ourselves to get a swift replacement- Bree sold but Drameh on loan, Jerome released.
  5. Read that Luton reluctant to sell as pushing top 6. They probably aren't under any notable financial pressure either.
  6. Sorry what I meant was for some games you might rotate a bit, Weimann through the middle, Sykes wide right and Cornick wide left, other games Sykes either out or in midfield, Weimann wide right, Wells through the middle and Cornick wide left. Squad game after all..or obviously as with now but Cornick for Semenyo.
  7. Decent numbers once goals and assists factored- games of course will include sub appearances! Still think £9m if correct as an upfront fee a bit light but perhaps it was the best offer.
  8. It's a shame but we probably knew it was coming sooner or later. Enjoyed watching him develop, enjoyed watching him come back to form this season after some of his mid-season struggles- resilience too arguably when he had his several months out last season but was so productive from Huddersfield at home onwards last season- played himself back into form with the little burst from Coventry away to Blackburn at home. Wish Antoine well- slightly disappointed wasn't Crystal Palace or even someone like Brentford tbh! Bournemouth again.
  9. Stoke- just because I dont worry about us doesn't mean I don't monitor others! ? Alex Neil is inistent according to a quick summary I saw that they don't have to sell for FFP. Their January activity reads as follows: They lost £97m in pre tax across 2019-20 and 2020-21 the starting point for this- this on revenues of £40m in 2021 and £50m in 2020- as in the seasons ending those periods. They also banked a profit of £32m on Fixed assets and £3-4m maybe in total across the 2 years on transfers. (A combined average of £48.5m-49m in pre tax loss, inclusive of years 2 and 3 of Parachutes, inclusive of £19-20m in disposal of tangible assets plus players). On the flipside their claimed Covid add-backs for the period as high as £28m, that's the average..SwissRamble believes their allowable costs to be £9m per year and rounding probably takes it to £12m in FFP losses. The cap on Covid add-backs for last season seems to be £2.5m and the cap seems to be £0 onwards. They made a profit on disposal of players of £11m last season but I estimate their income to be down to £30m and maybe less. Would depreciation still factor in after assets sold? It can vary! Who knows how much this season but probably less than £11m in profit. Their amortisation will be down to £5-6m probably and maybe less, their wages who knows- that £26m loss to March was a guide but that's all it was as it included 2 months of 2020-21. Their wage bill and potentially amortisation will be lower once more this season- but then again so is their transfer profit probably and the Covid add-back isn't a thing now. Once again the question of equality of treatment is a quite valid one IMO.
  10. That was my first season. I recall a Gate Post in that game v Wolves. Basically said exciting future, lots of new overseas playees and a coach, new ground at Hengrove Park etc. PL status the aim. Despite scoring first we proceeded to lose 6-1 at home, at home, v managerless Wolves! What a start for Benny that 1st month was, Tora disaster albeit disaster mainly in opening 2 games.
  11. The Ade Akinbiyi comparison with Semenyo, the former had a terrible time at Leicester iirc, let's hope Semenyo fairs better. Just did not work for him when he moved to Leicester (Akinbyi). That said he is often hyped as all time terrible but 11 goals in 58 isn't all thst terrible. The way his time there is often spoken about though I assumed his record would have been worse.
  12. Or for some games, you could go Sykes wide right, Weimann in the middle and Cornick on the left, there are options- it can be flexible and fluid. Not saying Wells must be jettisoned or anything but the system or personnel can be tweaked a bit bit with the same basic framework.
  13. Think Alex Crook is quite credible and he reiterated £9m and add-ons but only both clubs and the FA or whoever transfers are registered with will know for sure.
  14. Under £10m up front? Kind of on the fence about the value for money there from our perspective. How much did Jackson cost Bournemouth? Yes I know La Liga and Colombia my mistake it is Senegal, in general these days a higher ranked side than Ghana but it feels maybe £3m too light. Of course if it was the best offer then.. He's 21 and will cost an initial £20.3m plus add-ons.
  15. Hmm the Ghanian journo beat Romano to the final detail? Or Tweeted it 1st anyway.
  16. Had a quick look..Unsure this is the right thread but. Experimental 3-6-1 gave 1.2-1.1 in our favour which is just about ahead but a draw all the same fwiw.
  17. Think that was bad? Richardson got a 3 year deal there in last week of October then sacked by mid November! Think he was probably harshly sacked, doubt they pay huge wages etc, promoted in post administration season and kept them in League One while still in administration and a major fire sale.
  18. He's 27 so in and around prime age. As we know if fit and in form that can stretch for longer. Decent numbers, this season not quite so much granted. Has a good availability level or has done. Wide attacker isn't he? Knows the League. Ticks a number of boxes for sure- could then see Weimann-Wells-Cornick for some games or maybe Sykes-Weimann/Wells-Cornick for others.
  19. Had it hit say £12-13m the fee I'd think "well it's not ideal, ie still less than £15m but in the circs it's fine, it'll do". A straight fee of <£10m though doesn't feel like value. If it's the best bid on the table that's a different debate.
  20. Same for me! I can for now put our financials to the back of the mind and enjoy the remaining football- and fret that the loanee or whoever replaces may weaken us ON the pitch! ? Nice to finally be worrying about solely on pitch matters again. That said it's a shame to lose him now and not the summer- was enjoying seeing him coming back to form again.
  21. Just to say. IF it is the case that Semenyo is sold in January then irrespective of different views about what the League may or may not accept, if he goes then we are clear of FFP come what may IMO. Just my view, possibly excessively cautious anyway but come what may and then if our doubtless prior compliant submissions and projections are accepted anyway then it's a double win in a sense as we have an extra £9-10m of headroom or however much the final fee is.
  22. It's a bit unknown. The general consensus is that we're fine regardless, I have some doubts about the apparent methodology and whether bits of it would stand up to scrutiny. If we sell Semenyo we'll be fine come what may. It'll help come the summer without doubt, with Bentley off early too, Wells contract extension spreading the cost although I estimate a £19m FFP Loss last season but we're very much trending in the right direction. Mind you I am a bit bearish! Like I say the majority think we'll be absolutely fine based on acceptance of transfer add-backs and they could well be right, I'm a little on the cautious side.
