  1. I must correct myself too, I said it was January but in fact it was April obviously!
  2. It is and agree although I'm a bit sceptical as to whether they honed in on some do the outrageous calls vs us during that period.
  3. Ironically our last two penalties have been deemed incorrect by Sky Sports Ref Review of Weekend big Calls. Of all the decisions in the EFL in a given weekend we come out in 2 of 3 weeks as undeserving beneficiaries. Conway was deemed to have dived in the latter ie v Rotherham. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11688/13126121/behind-the-whistle-former-premier-league-referee-chris-foy-explains-the-latest-efl-decisions
  4. It is quite an odd list in the context of the January League table.
  5. Ah you mean Sheffield United last season? A Parachute club too.yes their financial trajectory was set to swing into the red. They also had Cash flow and Transfer Payment issues.
  6. Bournemouth and QPR most certainly . Pre the 3 year points deduction Rule, see also Leicester albeit QPR wwre in breach of that in receipt. Sheffield United not so sure. In theory the improved present and future monitoring could prevent breaches before they occur.
  7. Nottingham Forest were one I would suggest could've been. Wolves with the Mendes stuff another. Leeds were cited but worth remembering that thete was no standalone Test to 2020 due to Covid and when you added in 2019-20 and 2020-21 and halved and the £50-55.5m for the Upper Loss limit they passed. Has they not gone up, issues. Likewise Wolves in 2018. Maybe Brighton have to retrench in 2017-18 without.
  8. Aah right, with you now. We do miss an element of luck, as well as poor ownership and backing the wrong horse at the wrong time. Near year could be a year to go for it but if we still had the NP and Gould combo I'd have a bit more faith. The ratio of Parachute Payments clubs to top 6 though in the last few years.. do we keep as many key players as possible and spend big do we cross our fingers. Ipswich squad on paper isn't all that.
  9. Watford too this year. Who received PP. Near season it'll be the 3 who drop from the PL, plus or both of Leeds and Southampton depending on if they stay down.
  10. Everton going into administration could be the shockwave the game needs so..also feel they deserve to go down for their regular PSR shortcomings and other financial issues. No guarantee that it is on the cards but maybe it could be for the good of the game?
  11. There will be a lot of clubs, who on paper were better placed saying the same. Ipswich represent a major outlier, others less so.
  12. My view is still as it was a few years ago..starting point. Solidarity Payments plus Parachute Payments plus EFL TV money Then distributed equally by the current divisional structure. The huge cliff edge between the top 2 divisions but maybe that weighting needs looking at too Idk.
  13. Seemingly Conway should've been booked for simulation v Rotherham as per Chris Foy. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/bristol-city-tommy-conway-penalty-9256763
  14. Either ended or reformed drastically ie along the lines of what the EFL are looking for. Ie distributed significantly differently as opposed to all staying in the PL.
  15. I think but I'm not certain, WBA are out of Parachute Payments now. Clubs who go up and then drop straight back down get Years 1 and 2 only. Should be 4 or 5 in receipt next season.
  16. This year 4 of the top 6 look likely to be in receipt of Parachute Payments unless Hull do it. Watford are the 5th Parachute Payments club, I'm surprised tbis is permissible under Competition Law 24 clubs in the same division this level of distortion via a third party.
  17. 2019-20 Leeds- Title (non-Parachute) WBA 2nd (Parachute) Fulham, Brentford, Cardiff, Swansea 3 and 1 There were 6 Parachute Payments clubs in the Championship that year and 4 made the top 6. 4/6 vs 2/18. In the top 2, 1/6 vs 1/18. 2020-21 Norwich- Title (Parachute) Watford- 2nd (Parachute) Brentford, Barnsley, Bournemouth and Swansea 2 and 2 There were 7 Parachute Payments clubs in the Championship that year and 4 made the top 6. 4/7 vs 2/17. In the top 2, 2/7 vs 0/17. 2021-22 Fulham- Title (Parachute) Bournemouth- 2nd (Parachute) Nottingham Forest, Huddersfield, Sheffield United and Luton 2 and 2 There were 5 Parachute Payments clubs in the Championship that year and 4 made the top 6. 4/5 vs 2/19, In the top 2, 2/5 vs 0/19. 2022-23 Burnley- Title (Parachute) Sheffield United- 2nd (Parachute) Luton, Middlesbrough, Coventry, Sunderland- No Parachute! There were 5 Parachute Payments clubs in the Championship that year and 2 went up Automatically, 0 finished in playoffs. 2/5 Automatically promoted, 4/19 made the playoffs. The most democratic for while! I'll let others do ratios but..
  18. @W-S-M Seagull @cheese Plus anyone else. Parachute Payments, it can be done- see also Huddersfield but how far back to we want to go, what sort of sample size are we looking at. Ipswich seem to have pulled a 1 in 20 type season, Brighton had infrastructure but also some big spending, Leeds also big spending and top manager, Wolves ditto. The first scenario is what % of Parachute Payments clubs vs non Parachute Payments clubs over x years get Automatic Promotion. Then what % reach the top 6. Lastly what % go up vs non Parachute Payments clubs. The stars truly have to align or you have to catch that magic season in a bottle as Ipswich seem to have done, the momentum can carry you. The rules hindered us in 2017-18, and arguably 2015-16 on one level it caused a need for caution or a perceived need. 1 year vs 3 year. Ipswich I look through and it defies rationale really, some capable but not amazing Championship players some over 30 competing with and in 2 cases we expect outmatching Parachute bolstered big clubs for the level in Leeds, Leicester and Southampton.
  19. Albeit I would add that Leeds would require retrenchment, Southampton even moreso. Both woukd see the FFP headroo to 2024-25 shrink by £30m or so. Ipswich otoh may not be able to retrench so much. How are Birmingham doing this investment given their Accounts and the FFP rules. I've looked in some depth and they've already used £25m less Allowables in 2022-23. Seemed to be posting a 6 month loss despite and including some rises and the Bellingham money. Bellingham money won't be replicated this summer. Naming rights or not, there are Fair Value rules attached to the RPTs.
  20. I'd be quite happy with 2 years personally. Third year Idk but would any Championship club offer him that at this time.
  21. This is also true. To be honest I look at the League and an increasing number of rivals I dislike for a range of reasons really. Leicester, maybe breached FFP once if not twice. Leeds, well nuff said..Ipswich, Ashton, Southampton, Martin, Norwich and West Brom, been propped by Parachute Payments for too long. QPR, I wonder how they seemingly have complied with FFP, I see no substantial sales, Birmingham arrogant. Cardiff and Swansea nuff said, Millwall have some troublesome fans let's say although perhaps a greater emphasis on history.
  22. There is another key difference @Olé Really moderate injuries to key players. Compare to us when Rolls etc were here, thinking the medical side specifically in this bit. Checked the availability of their January players too and was very good at in stage. Unsure abiut now.
  23. Still time for the figurehead who I despise, come on Huddersfield, Leeds and whenever finishes 6th. I pray they lose each game they play..loyal to the team or the regime are we. You and some others I really do wonder about.
  24. I am sure they're in line with FFP but I'm querying where Murphy is getting his figures from exactly. Possibly he is Conflating Net Spend and the Intangible Assets will also include at the very least Loan Fees in addition to Transfer Fees. They will be nowhere near e.g. Leicester, Leeds, Southampton in respect of expenditure of wage bill, probably below a number of others too but they will have increased, which if course was ably assisted by revenue rises post Promotion too.
  25. More fool Tinnion and Jon Lansdown then. I grow to dislike the ******* at the top of the club more by the day.
