Leeds Emergency Press Conference 5pm

There's a historic and fairly long antipathy between Leeds and Chelsea.

Lampard as a modern icon of Chelsea, and him being manager of Derby in this scenario- will fan the flames a bit.

I also remember Lampard mentioning in his autobiography that he was set to sign for Leeds from West Ham, but as David O’Leary only saw him as a squad player, he opted to sign for Chelsea instead.

Probably has nothing to do with it, but I thought that was an interesting little tidbit.

How easy would it be to watch our training sessions?

I’ve drove past the training ground many times before, never seen them out training though.

Guessing they’ve used a drone?

That would explain those losing runs.

It was the flat cap, whippet and loaf of Hovis under his arm that gave him away.

Hovis, from Yorkshire? Really?

Try Macclesfield, Cheshire.

If there's no rule against it and people in a position of power are that against it then create one and punish them if they continue to do it... As it seems there's no rules broken its a non story really.

I stand corrected. It's that old advert, sounded Yorkshire to a young me!

Filmed in Shaftesbury, Dorset using music written about America (New World Symphony by Dvorak)

The best bit of the story is this press conference.

Completely dissecting Frank Lampard's Derby's tactics and patterns of play over the course of the season- from the start of the season to now!

Perhaps he forgot to change or leave his dog behind when he set off from Leeds.....

Surprising really that this sort of thing has only come out now. Leeds haven’t broken any rules, they’ve just gone the extra mile to gain any sort of advantage.

It may not be gentleman like, but I suppose nothing is any more.

If he put as much time and effort in to learning to speak English

He might sound like Ossie Ardiles by now

and we STILL wouldn't understand a ******* word he is saying

Indeed, Gold Hill.

For years, I had just assumed it was Clovelly.

Personally I think it’s wrong.

Do we just believe everything Bielsa says?  Is he saying all that he us to avoid a thorough investigation?  I hope someone is actually checking the rules or code of ethics etc rather than taking his word for it.

This is not Leeds-ist, they have gained an unfair advantage, whatever Bielsa says.

Interesting to see what the other 22 managers make of it.

Anyone due to face Derby should be quite grateful in one respect- look at the above pics.

On a serious note, dissecting Frank Lampard's Derby- didn't see that coming in the press conference. Wow. Peak Bielsa?

This is hilarious, 2 words I would never use to describe Leeds.

An official statement from Leeds United on Saturday read: "Following comments made by Marcelo Bielsa yesterday (Friday) the club will look to work with our head coach and his staff to remind them of the integrity and honesty which are the foundations that Leeds United is built on.

I bet it goes on all the time...even Clubs paying for insider info.

With Drones it's a lot easier...and it's as little as 50 million to put a satellite in orbit...wonder if any of the bigger clubs have invested in doing this.

It makes you think.

Of course it does, I am amazed that the police saw fit to even attend this as a call, considering you don't see a copper when your house gets broken into these days and that is a real crime.

I really don't know what all the fuss is about, Lampard saying it never happened at Chelsea, this is a team who employed Mourinho twice as it's manager.

Easy enough - had you or anyone been wearing a City shirt they’d let you in to watch the training.

Same at Derby but the guy was stood on the edge of a footpath by some bushes. All he had to do was wear a Derby top. Nobody would have given him a second glance.

It was mentioned earlier that the Leeds scout had crawled through bushes and was using binoculars hiding in a Bush. This is why Derby took the step to call the police

But has since been proven villas-boas regularly did this when number two to Mourinho ironically when a certain Mr lampard played for Chelsea

Ps see my post above why the police were called

Mixed stuff about police being called.

Interesting (if long) thread on it.

On talksport earlier they said the police were called due to where the guy was hiding and how he was crouched in bushes

Remind me what was the name of that Italian chairman they had with so much honesty and integrity that he had been convicted of tax evasion?

Gold hill was also used in the film Far from the Maddening Crowd.

The film is Far from the Madding Crowd.

You're obviously getting it confused with Ashton Gate when we're on poor run! :)

Spying on another team's training is cheating imo but this press conference is hilarious.

He's absolutely owned Frank Lampard and Derby here.

If this was any other Championship club then they'd be looking at a hefty fine. As it's Leeds then Sky are already in negotiations to turn the story into a 6 part series.

🤣

Can't wait for the new training ground, the Leeds spy will have to stand on the 12th green of the neighbouring golf course and one of their precious members will wrap a golf club around his head.

Now that is what I call preparation, who ever did all that work certainly earned their corn!

If that's just from spying at training...imagine what info each club provides from Scouts watching games previously.

I don't think we as fans realise how much info and technology is provided each game these days.

A lot more than we would think.

Hence why it's become a game of chess at a fast pace.

That's not mainly from spying at training- could only gain a proportion of the info.

This is from Bielsa and his team watching every Derby game last season, analysing, key patterns, formations, team shapes- the work. They watched all 51 apparently.

As you say, a shitload of info and technology for each game. Phil Hay's Twitter feed definitely worth a read.

On the whole there is an incredible amount of common sense being spoken by the majority of City fans on this thread.

A number of the so called pundits out there would do well to have a look-in.

For what it's worth, Biesla is some guy; honest, straight forward & a genius to boot.

The FA should be congratulating him for having faith in British youth & particulary young English players.

If all this info gathering started just from the start of this season then it is even more impressive, gotta hold my hands up to this  spying team they certainly have done their job! Goodness knows how the Leeds players learn all the info needed in time for game day!

As much as it may pain a few (not me particularly) Robbo is right! The worst spy in history.

Robbo did you wear a City shirt on your minibus tour with the Gas?
