Burnley wanted Brownhill, City wanted a striker, so the deal was done.

Everyone wanted a striker in January that's true, but wells obv was happy at QPR and didn't want to come here. Recipe for disaster really and that shows in the way he strolls through most games.

Solid first half from the rest of the team but he need to get wells off

1st half summary:

Decent enough effort, look reasonably organised.  We have actually executed a couple of multiple-man presses around the halfway line and won the ball / forced them into a bad pass.

Williams doing the simple stuff ever so well.  Think he prefer to be right of Vyner, swapping with Pato, but think it’s tactical to give Towler a better defensive midfielder inside him.

Surprised Kalas (Kalash?) playing central and Moore (RCB).  In fairness Moore has covered in behind Hunt very well on two occasions.

Had a good spell of passing midway through half, need to do more of that.  Pato needs to avoid trying too much when deep in our half.

We all know it isn't.

Doing well so far.

Sheffield the more confident side, but not too much in it.

Young Towler will be subbed by 60 minutes, good experience for him.

Vyner and Williams almost anonymous - they need to get into the game, Williams has a bit of an excuse but Vyner doesn't. The pair of them are watching the game go by imo. Paterson doing ok considering his time out.

Just need to step it up a bit, have a go at them.

Midfield had been a plus tonight . Front two poor . Get Semenyo on . Could take either of fam or Wells off tbh

Towler is obviously nervous. Taking up good defensive positions and you get the impression he’s not comfortable in attacking areas . Must be amazing for him but also a nightmare . Making your professional debut but massively out of position .

True

Paterson is so guilty of this every game, just needs to play the simple 5 yard pass instead of trying a flick which isn’t on all the time.

Really didn’t sit right with me the Wells signing. Again seemed like knee jerk signing with no plan as how to play him

Vyner and Williams getting through loads of work.  Williams hasn’t given a ball away yet has he.  Looking exactly what I thought he would....albeit he is of course in a team struggling to keep the ball and chasing it a fair bit.

I’m quite surprised by a lot of the Williams comments (people being impressed so far).
I think your comment Dave is the correct one.
Williams has been just doing the simple things. But he’s looked very sloppy at other times and for the most part I think he looks like he’s in need of a pre-season to regain his touch and range.
I think it shows how sparse our central midfield performances have been if we are seeing that 45 from Williams as a good one.
It was a 6.5/10 at best. And understandably so as he’s in desperate need of minutes.
