spudski
Was doing some research and stumbled on this...never knew they existed. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Football_Club I was actually trying to find out about River Plate AFC from 1911/12. My Great Grandfather played for them. I have a picture of him in squad with trophy from that year. I don't have a clue about them. Did Bristol have. AFC River Plate? Whilst on tour in the States got into a hotel lift in Rapid City and the Yanks inside picking up on our accents (true Bristolian mind) asked where we were from. Coincidentally they also came from one of the Bristol's but I can't remember which state.
Baba Yaga
Had heard of Nacional who they had a rivalry with and I know are one of the big 2 clubs in Uruguay. The Bristol FC story from their POV on their wikipedia page... Quote In a general assembly which took place in 1911, the populist majority led by club president José María Delgado obtained a victory over the elitist minority which resulted in an institutional transformation: the club opened its doors to players from lower classes, such as Abdón Porte, who would eventually become one of the club's biggest symbols, playing in Nacional until his premature death in 1918. Quite likely if they hadn't made that decision they would have folded a few years later too and not go on and become 48 times Uruguyan champions. One of the most remarkable is Bristol Wisconsin. About 60 miles North of Chicago they hold a Bristol Renaissance Faire. For the summer months. A village set up as 16th century Bristol and manned by actors is great fun for a day. https://renfair.com/bristol/

22A
I remember in the 60's and early 70's, there was a plate on the entrance to the Memorial Ground stating "Bristol Football Club". I asked about this and was told that when the rugby club started, there as no clear distinction between the two codes.
